That's a pretty big burst disk cannon! The mount you built for your cannon is really cool and it looks like you put a lot of effort into building it. I hope you can replace those fittings soon so you can up the pressure a bit and maybe get a little better performance. Happy almost St. Patricks day!

That's huge!

Too bad you used DWV parts, can't wait for some more damage pics with higher pressures

Lots of air tank and barrel length there...probably a little overkill on the air tank. However, nice presentation with the paint job and gun mount. That thing looks heavy and hard to transport. How do you move that thing?

but yea lose the DWV and you'll be good :D

uh oh you double posted. sweet gun im guessing the union is to make the flow more efficient from the valve more efficient?. nice job on the paint and the little stand rox too. i cant beleive you shot a spud through a door. that sounds soooooo dangerous. whats the range of this beast?

Well if you can, i seriously recommend taking out that ball valve, and makingit a triggered burst disk (look at the wiki).

Your power will be much more with a triggered burst disk. What you have now just builds up a little more pressure before the disk ruptures.

But with a few modifications, you can have a beastly gun. Reminds me of my 4 inch piston soon to be finished.

WOW i see the pictures now and they certainly speak for themselves, thats a beast, and I've always wanted to make one like it. very nice paintjob and set up. And this that barrel a ball valve shouldn't be that bad,

In this case, his ball valve valve would work better because of the bigger barrel allowing for more flow.

But if you just make it a triggered burst disk, the results will speak for itself.
Just look at the SCTBDC, it definatly speaks for itself.

I was wondering when you'd post this thing, I believe I helped in the design of it a few months ago.

Looks like it should be quite powerful. Although I don't see the specs anywhere, it looks like a 2" union. Unless you're doing a triggered design, you're only getting the power of a ball valve. Don't think that the disk will hold very long after the valve opens. The disk will probably break when the valve is less than 1/10 open because of the massive flow through a 2" BV, meaning that you hardly help effective opening time at all.

And Liki, the SCTBDC has not spoken for itself yet, but spring is coming. You can expect some real carnage in a month or two

Well if it is still talking then you are going to have to SHUT IT UP !!!!(pun for buerger king commercial).

And also like i said, and DYI supported, you are only getting the opening time of the ball valve, not the burst disk, that is why i recommed you make it a triggered burst disk.

But yea i think that penetration of the 1/4 inch steel was only the beginning. :o

1/4" steel was a pushover with the right ammo. I think the SCTBDC can do 1/2" with a specialised penetrating round. [redacted] will do 1"

Hmmmmm.... I'm most deffinitly going to change out that crapy DWV and when I do, Im going to find me some quarter-inch steel plating. (sp?) And then, we let the titans clash! ok, lemme stop. :D

edit- OK, 3/4 INCH STEEL :D

So, What would you guys recommend for upgrades? ( besides a longer barrel, and no DWV) ?

more carnage :) , but the 3/4 steel will be tough~! you need some rounds like dyi's and you need a steel chamber like him and high pressure :) then you'll really be in business, but i love this cannon. :D

What about a couple of 2" pistons to replace the DWV's and eliminate the ball valve? :D What would that do to it? In this case, don't worry about converting over to steel chambers, etc... see what kind of damage you can get out of this mega pvc cannon and a spud...
