Thanks, not sure where there is a Tractor Supply Co around St. Louis though. Hell it's St. Louis, there should be another supplier around here someplace that carries SDR-21 in the proper size, we just have to find them.

yea no kidding. I'm willing to bet there's hundreds of plumbing supply centers around St. Louis. Its just finding the ones that carry what you need is the trick. And once we get the proper pipe.... helium might be an issue.
But we will prevail!

Here's the original thread :http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtop ... tml#189870DonTheLegend wrote:Hmm... interesting ideas... We'll definitely have to see if we can get some of this stuff to work. I like the straw idea, but I just don't see how that would work. Can you link to the original thread?
It was really just a reply there I found interesting.(from daxspudder)
And since I had seen the water shot, I thought of this cannon first.
Heres another thread [bottom of reply], about a backpack cannon.
And the guy who built the awesome "supercannon II" replied.
(username btrettel). He also works for a cool site (Biopyro linked to before) called super soaker central.
cool stuff. 8)
It was just an idea to try a solid mass of water from such an awesome cannon. 8)

Be careful with the SDR-21 you might find...not all SDR-21 1.5" is equal. I've found a newer "version" of it that is thicker walled and will NOT accomodate a golf ball....however has same ASTM numbers as the good stuff.DonTheLegend wrote:Thanks, not sure where there is a Tractor Supply Co around St. Louis though. Take a golfball with you to test it if you can find a supplier.

Thanks, but that is what I was referring to. We bought one piece of pipe from our supplier about a year and a half ago and it worked great. We went back and bought another piece a few weeks ago and it was no good. Like you said, same ASTM numbers and everything, but not worth anything to spudders like us
And thanks for those links TL

My uncle is a machinist. We bought PVC and UHMWPE rods from McMaster and he took it into work and used the machine shop there. We couldn't have built this without him.

Quite true- take a golf ball with you. That, and often times 1.5" SDR is tough to find. Most plumbers use SDR pipe when they are running larger sizes, because it has the same pressure rating reglarless of pipe diameter. SDR-21 is rated at 200 PSI, you can use many other types of pipe for 200 PSI at that size. I traveled 3.5 hours to get to a plumbing store that carried the stuff, and the owner was the only one who knew they had it- the entire "experiences" sales staff didn't think they carried it that small- and this was a very large company that deals primarily with contractors.starman wrote:Be careful with the SDR-21 you might find...not all SDR-21 1.5" is equal.
