Bazookair - My Bad Ass Kiwi Coaxial

At last this thing is complete. I have learnt a lot along the way and this thing is my first and last until I leave university.

The Specs:
Chamber: 50mm Pressure PVC (No DWV in this cannon)
Barrel: 25mm PVC
Valve: Piston Valve made from a hairspray lid. The sealing face is two layers of bike tire tune. The rest of the valve is bulked out by a cister washer (about 6mm thick)
Pilot: 15mm ball valve
Fill: Shrader Valve

This whole cannon provide a great wealth of knowledge. This cannon was how I learnt to solvent weld, joined this forum, learnt about seals, pistons, and got a good feel for NZ price.

If you are interested in the rest of the photos (11 including the above), they are here: http://s72.photobucket.com/albums/i177/ ... Bazookair/

Damage Photos coming when I have some decent ammo (suggestions?).

Anything that fits down the barrel works well, get some bolts and nuts like a giant shotgun.

Got a sister?Steal some of her nail polish bottles they fit great in 25mm pn12 pipe.

Nice all round gun, could you possibly get some vids up of it in action aswell?

Sure thing, videos on there way too. The pictures and videos can come soon. My mum uses them but my sister doesnt yet. Dont know if they'll be possible... I usually use manderinse BUT they dont really do any damage. Nuts and bolts would be vool (not so great for the lawn mower...) I am a townie with no real range. I was thinking a dart of some kind so I can re-use them.

Make a mould a cast some slugs from epoxy or hot glue, they work great if you put a bb in the nose and a skirt at the base

Nicely done. Good to see you learned alot.
I also made a (cheap, but clean) coaxial piston valve cannon just for getting the experience/knowledge.

I dont know about casting my own projectiles... Epoxy and hot glue is so expensive here... When I have my aluminium can foundry going I can cast some aluminium bullets (At least I can melt em down and re cast em). This has been a great learning experience, and in the future I will make some more badass guns :-D

I love this piston design...seen it a few times on some other models...there seems to be lots of advantages to the design.

Overall, the gun is a little on the ugly side but looks solid. A decent paint job would work wonders.

Good effort!

Yeah I agree on the paint job. In terms of 'clean', what does that actually mean? and what do I need to do to improve it?

What style / colour would most benefit this particular gun?

Only if you've specifically got a password set-up on it.

Nice coaxial - if a little rough and ready in places.

"Clean" generally refers to the overall design, construction and usefulness of the gun. Good ergonomics, handles, triggers, balanced front to back...solid construction...no dangling hoses, tight fitting tubes and connections. No running or dripped primer...etc etc.

Use your imagination on the color. Lot of color combos can work, lots of them can also look like crap. Also, don't forget camo options.

The less colours I can use on this the better... (As I have stated im no the richest person in the world...) I have got brass fittings at the pilot/fill end then leak... I have used teflon tape and tightend them. Any solutionas on how to fix it? This baby is great with water as the ammo, shoots the same range as a super soaker but instead of a stupid little stream it is a massive 1 inch blast (not quite a shot gun style blast.) Video comeing soon.

EDIT: And now I haveing problems with the sealing face. I use your run-of-the-mill bike innner tube. This gun rips holes in them (told you it was bad ass!). Any suggestions? I am trying to find a completly new face unles there is something I am doing wrong with the bike tire tube...

Most commonly people use neoprene rubber found at harware stores or mcmaster.com.

Also you can use silcone cases. Like the squishy things people put on ipods and wii remote controlers.

I have used neoprene from a stubby holder but ot no avail. Perhaps i should explain the problem... The gun now rather than ripping small holes in the face, it cracks the face and it slips off the nut. I have one more thing to try, I am going to try tightening the bolt. Currently I squash the face down and tighten with my finger. Would makeing it super tight help me? My Dad suggests getting a larger washer (The one I have has about 3mm clearence all around).

EDIT: I have tightened the bolt a whole bunch tighter and has fixed the problem. I once read here somewhere that you should tighten everything as tight as possible. This baby is awsome with water, Has a good recoil kick, and then the target is soaked (about a 5m diameter blast from about 4 meters away.

There is a $7 blow gun at Mitre 10 I will buy. I need to know how to splice this in though. Should I take the ball valve off? Also I am unsure if I can get 1/2 inch to 1/4 inch reducers. The blowgun comes with the nipple.
