Lacross ball have the same diamiter, but are solid rubber and much heavier.

sorry for reviving a semi-dead thread, but what size and length pipe is your chamber and where did you buy it?
2-3/4" Tail pipe, has a 2-5/8ths or 2.625 ID, you can get it in 10 foot lengths at auto parts stores for $20.

I have 2 designs, one with a inner guide pipe, and one without.
The one without is the 3 inch piston sitting next to the pipe above. Thats inside 4.2" mortar I built.

290 psi no problem. (290 is the burst pressure of the push to connect hose.)

FYI: 2-3/4 inch tail pipe is perfect for launching full/empty soda/beer cans.
PS: Wicked cool to launch a full soda can at chain link fence. (Modern art.)

That is pretty cool that the exasust pipe can be used in the same application as 2.5" sdr 21, I think that would be a good alternalive for the sake of avalability.
