I just poured about a pound of flour down the barrel.
The cannon was shot at 120 psi, notice how quiet it was? Usually at those pressures the cannon is deafening.

I did notice that. The loose flour obviously absorbs much of the energy available in the shot. I would bet that packaged flour would not have been that quiet.

I will probably do this again but instead have a foam sabot behind it all.

Great cloud you made there!
Love the dogs going to check out what it is.

A sabot would certainly help to get some more range and dispersion. Would also make a louder bang. I believe alot of energy is wasted in tumbling the loose flour around in the barrel while firing.

Are you perhaps planning to fire the cloud in the direction of a campfire?

Hummm that could get interesting...and dangerous....like explosion dangerous. It would more than likely just produce a gigatic fireball out in the open air...sort of like the non-dairy creamer cannon the Mythbusters built....

You see mythbusters too? Nice gun you have I don't suggest fireing flour at a campfire big fireball lost eyebrows lost eyes.
You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

Well, DOHH.
99% of the spudders watch MB!
frankrede wrote:Hmm, it seems as if my intentions have been forecasted;)
Rather obvious isnt it?

-Most spudders do MB like experiments.
-Spuders like to exploit science to build rather spectacular (and dangerous) toys.
-A spudder throws up a cloud of flour.

Conclusion:
We can be sure that the cloud is intended to be ignited. :D

Sidenote:
Tried fillin up the barrel with gasoline yet?
Theres a good video on youtube making one hell of a fireball.
