2mm Semi

Gday guys,

I have been using a 1/4" qev coupled with a needle valve and blowgun for semi auto fire for quite a while now (well when i say semi i mean muzzle loading semi...never had the motivation to make a mag for it. That was at 6mm. Now i thought id post a modification i made which was cut the chamber by half and add a 2mm aluminuim barrel.

Even with a barrel that short and running at 70psi i m able to get nearly through both sides of a coke can (at 80 it goes through).

Ammo is 1.9mm lead shot for shot guns.

It wont get a mag or anything because i will be using the QEV for part of my gun in the contest.

Enjoy.

Hey Carlman! That's nice!!! Any idea of the velocity of the projectiles? i'd say you can put a longer barrel, sleeved in a bigger pipe. it's impressive that you manage to pierce through a can, 'cause it takes a certain amount of energy to do that and would have doubted that 2mm lead shot would have it.
Won't you put it to a higher pressure? small projectiles tend to love the extra force behing them :P

Nice little plinker, clean ^^

Good stuff. I was contemplating hooking up the Rattlesnake valve to a 3mm barrel as with 500-800 psi performance would be impressive, but at the end of the day 4.5mm is a better idea, more muzzle energy and BBs are much easier to obtain.

If you want better penetration with this, try using "beheaded" nails as ammo ;) and as suggested above, higher pressures go a long way with smaller calibres.

Noice work Bro,
Just so I don't come across as a complete and utter noob I assume it is a single shot at the moment?
Luckily you can only get through on side of the can or else you would never find that shot in that room

Verrrrry nice mate. Job well done! I'm curious to know how you obtain semi auto fire though. Do you have it hooked up to the compressor or get multiple shots from your air chamber?

Try a T-piece and a pipe as mag. If you are lucky, it feeds fine!
Why did you drop the 6mm barrel for a 2mm one? Moar surface moar power!

This type of low-calibre QEV gun with constant air feed seems to be very popular these days, I wonder who started that...

Psycix, that's the exact method I'm going to be using. I'm going to get a nice meter long 7mm bore aluminum barrel plus use the same material for the gravity fed mag (about a 11mm OD) and use a Male 1/2'' tee with compression fittings to hold everything tight and dead straight in place. Fingers crossed!

If all goes well, I'd love to make a mag that holds darts. Maybe even make it into a 6 shot revolver :D

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Bless you Psycix :) haha:D

Thanks guys, I dropped the 6mm for the 2mm for fun as I got the lead shot for free lol

Its hooked up to a compressor

I am using the qev off this for my competition gun, .177 cal

it looks like an uzi but the feed tube might have to go in a different place
