Added new picture, I re-made the piston since the first one didn't work...at all

The new one works great, at 260PSI I'm getting plastic BB's (depending on weight) to go through both sides of a coke can and sometimes through 3 sides if I have a coke can behind it. Metal BB's penetrate the bottom with ease and leave a nice dent on the other side. I'll take it higher tomorrow when I trust the epoxy more (JB-Weld has usually leaked on me at those pressures even after 24 hours).

If I understood correct JB Weld and Araldite are pretty much equivalent, and my recent cartridge/pengun projects were good for 800 psi with Araldite only. It's a question of technique

I prefer araldite. Araldite is plenty strong enough (and if it isn't, time to start using metal, threads, bolts etc). JB-weld just comes off as ugly sometimes, but you kept it out of the way well. You could mix some metal filings in with araldite I suppose.

I like it I've got some dodgy aluminum torches lying around I'd love to do this to, but I don't trust the casings. Fairly thin aluminum of unkown quality. I'd probably prefer to build a gun inside them (new chamber, barrel etc).

I'm disappointed how pathetic this sounds and looks on my video camera...I took some videos today but didn't upload them because it just looks like a pathetic BB gun. It gives a nice pop but on the video it just sounds like a "pfft".

I love this thing though

Interesting fact: The entire barrel of this BB gun was actually the protruding portion of the barrel from my previous coaxial. Which turned out to be exactly the right length.

Without MOAR PRESSURE! this is the sort of performance you're condemned to from such a small launcher...

Actually I was thinking to leave the outer ring of leds where it is, with the barrel running through the center. However, since the 2 AA batteries are removed for the rest of the barrel / chamber, I might have to find a spot to put in a couple of smaller batteries, making the flashlight work just fine for a short time.

I'm not so bothered about performance, it performs good enough for me. If I want to shoot holes in stuff, I have my other coaxial for that. Though 300PSI is my limit. I really need a fridge compressor...

or you could build an air powered HPA pump...
just get a PCP airgun pump, a large bore air cylinder and a normal compressor... build a circuit that will automatically extend and retract the air cylinder and it will pump the PCP pump for you

Very cool mini! Maybe one of the most practical ones I've seen on here.

Or you could simply have a motor driving a crankshaft like the FX pump:

You probably can get them in AUS, but it'd help if I found one in NZ

Up the street from me there are a few stores, one being an appliance store and it has lots of broken machines outside, one is a fridge with compressor but i'm guessing either the compressor is FUBAR or I wont be able to ask for it because of the freon issue...

AFAIK since the early 90' freon is no longer used... but IDK if the 'newer' refrigerants, like r134a are harmful or not... someone suggested they are but it all comes down to whether they'll let you cut it off and take it or not

well in the past I thought that all fridges that are thrown away must be FUBARed
but the last one was removed from my grandmothers fridge (produced in the soviet union in the 1970's ) which was thrown away about 15 years ago because it broke down... anyway I found out that it had a faulty starting relay so I replaced it and it worked...

well I guess it wasn't the best idea to keep it outside when temperatures fall below - 20 deg C...
so I decided to keep my new one in my basement and connected it with the tank (that loooong steel pipe) via polyamide tubing rated to 50 bar


anyway the point is that fridge compressors are pretty tough... it seems logical that they will fail as they are the only moving part but from my experience this isn't true... google 'the incredible life of machines' and watch the one about fridges... the guy tells something along these lines at the very end of that episode
