edit: Your piston must be pretty damn heavy, are you even using a bumper? I would also glue your sealing face on, just around the edges to stop any air leaking through it.

Yeah I'm gonna try the 2" coupler and see if I can find either a plug or threaded adapter for the end cap.

I'll do that with the piston face, I've noticed after firing it a few times that it flares a bit on the sides, not that it's a big deal because of the 3/4" porting but since I already have it out definitely. The piston is not too terribly heavy, it would be comparable to a PVC piston but the bondo is very easy to work with AND sturdy.

I've been curious about the porting size and whether it's a factor or not. With air pressure in general it's going to take the easiest route to escape no matter what...kinda like water. In this case I opted for the 3/4" port because i already had the barrels made from my previous gun and wanted to use them. but does it really matter if air is escaping through a 3/4" port or a 2" port if all the air is coming out at once? Every time I fire there is no more air left, which tells me that it's all escaping. I dunno just some thoughts on the physics of it all. :)

Water is going to drain out of a 2" hole much faster than a 3/4" hole, so yeah it does matter unless you have 10' or so long barrels. :P

IMHO, that piece of pipe (and any joint made with it) is compromised as far as its potential strength is concerned. If it were mine, I'd cut off the pipe, dremel out the remainder and solvent weld in a new piece of pipe.

Then use a coupler. :) (Reducer inside of pipe...shakes head and mutters something about old age and resultant brain farts. :lol: )
