Even when installed properly, many blowguns leak at high pressure. When I took a bbmg of mine to those pressures I had to use three different blowguns before I found one that could take the force and not leak. You might think about replacing the blowgun with a pushbutton valve, they sell them for pretty cheap at mcmaster and they will still give you that trigger feel. Plus, if you decide to up the pressure from 400 they will take it without a problem.

i got really pissed at it so i took of the blow gun and replaced it with the one in the picture and it can take 400psi, power has gone up significantly i think i was hopping for a bit more but it i am quite satisfied with it anyway, altho it dose look kinda stupid and dont believe i will make a stock for it if i keep it on there, i will look around for something a bit better but at the moment i dont have much money so cant really do much in the way of buying stuff, will try get some vids soon, might have to make that silencer that JSR was suggesting because this thing is quite loud, not deafeningly, but a bit much for suburban australia. all in all im not so dissipated with it as i was before, has anyone successfully modified a blow gun to not leak?

A 1/4 male to female right angle fitting would allow you to use a 1/4 ball valve as was suggested earlier, a nicer trigger could be fitted too.

I edited my previous post also.

yea ball valves are good and all but im kinda wired in that i dont really like them because they have the leaver of to one side and i dont really lime the look of them  altho i might have to get one in the end

you should try make you own push button valve like the one btb and far_cry made.

yes that did cross my mind, anyone got any diagrms on how they work? i know its probly quite simple but im feeling kinda lazy

edit: think i understand how they work now but if you like any diagrams would be great help, thanks

cheers, yea it looks easy enough just need to get to bunnings to get a T fitting then, should be good if i get it to work, im sure it would also help aid power?

Better piloting should result in more power, assuming you can make it with significantly greater flow than the blowgun.
ilovefire wrote:ha ha interesting story but as with a lot of your links i cant see its point
It was meant to be shock at the discovery that some of us make components designed to last for the lifetime of the launcher without servicing, because they are sealed systems.
you mean the start of the barrel? no i didnt, if i did i believe it would have started to choke the flow
What's to stop the barrel cutting into the piston under pressure?
i think hybrids are great and all with the power and size but its all to annoying for me if i just want to shoot stuff, you have to have the gas the syringe the burst disks then you have to load it and all and then theres the ignition which can be annoying click* click* click* boom! i like the idea that i can just pump it up put in ammo and one go boom
Fair point, but I think the MOAR POWAH is worth it. Really all you have to do is add a spark gap, then you can use it as either a pneumatic or a piston hybrid ;)

im hopping the barrel  it is 1mm thick and relatively small diameter barrel

ha ha well after i first shot this thing at 400psi it did cross my mind that hybrid would have been better since i did use a similar barrel on one of my cartridges and shot through a 15cm wide palm tree but i still think i prefer this better, also i dont think i would trust using this as a piston hybrid anywhere near my face

Not to burst your optimistic bubble but my experience tells me that after some use at 400 psi, your piston will become a doughnut...

i sure as hell hope your wrong because i dont think i would like a hole suddenly appearing infront of the gun wherever it may be pointing :( it hasnt on my cane gun that has a barrel width of .5 or less mm's and i also inspected it after i took it apart to get a jam out of the barrel and it wasnt cut whatsoever, alto that was much stronger rubber
