Episode 2 of season 2. Give me your thoughts and ideas,, let me know also is the music good or bad, would you rather have no music... Destruction wise for a potato it did better then we thought. After episode 6 we should by then have a penetrating projectile for the hard to break through objects.
I after episode 6 because we have filmed all these already, episode 7 will be the second half of the season.. Thanks Guys

Nice, I didn't mind the music. Also at around 4:25, you appear to have given the microwave a healthy bosom! High velocity spud boob job, great stuff :D and the hot potato was a good ending.

Is that a good idea though? Let's face it, your target demographic is 10-85 year old boys :D

Nice :) you got a cool show going on. But you really need those penetrating rounds. Potatoes are for noobs :D

I know guys the show will get better as time goes on. But the whole thing behind the show was to see how much destruction a potato can cause. Hybrids are cool and different projectiles are cool, but you might as well use a gun. Basically thats what those cannons have become. homemade guns. Which is really cool, but we have plenty of guys out there making those. I will probably change my mind but for now we will stick with the pneumatic and potatos for a while, I do though want a penetrating round, right now the "mechanic" is working on a way to use the compund round and modify the head of it to add a pointed tip, i will let you know how that goes as we start messing with it.. And dang i just opened up a can worms. hahaha thanks jacks

That's not necessarily the case. Most of what I build is designed to outperform the limits of firearms in some way or other. There's also the issue that hybrids are better than solid propellant guns in almost every way, save for the necessity of manufacturing the consumables yourself, rather than buying them in standard sizes.

I like your premise though - how much damage a potato can do. It can be taken quite far as well, much further than you've gone now. It wouldn't be too difficult to construct a pneumatic to launch potatoes at 500m/s or more, and have them leave the barrel intact. Interested?

right now the last shoot we did a couple of weeks ago, we shot the potato out at around 372mph that one hasn'et aired yet. That is still slow because that only comes out to 171 m/s i would love to reach faster speeds. I'm also assuming the size of the barrel and size of the projectile has a lot to do with the speed. I'm shooting 2 inch chunchs of potatos which have not come apart yet. When i edit the footage my camera catches a perfect shot of the potato in flight. So beautiful. Then the next frame it explodes on impact.. But again i am limited because of my shooting area. I'm working on shooting out at an old air field. If that goes through then i will definatley be uping the power and size of the cannon..

Maybe freezing the tater will make it do some more damage :)

Or puttink a 3 ounce lead slug into the tater, then freezing it! 8) 8)

Has anyone made a frozen chunk of ice to shoot. I have extra pipe the exact size of the barrel. make some ice cube projectiles. Now i don't have a lead slug, but hear me out. I have an old old plum bob. You know the weighted metal and you tie a string to line up your objects. Anyways it's pretty weight and has a nice form to it. I could maybe freeze that in a cube and the ice would act as a carrier and on impact the ice would break and the weight would continue to plow through ? Thoughts on that

I've made both ice and Pykrete rounds in 3" bore before (about 10" long) which worked very nicely. The Pykrete is for most purposes far superior, but the ice breaks up into a satisfying cloud of fragments on impact.

Your plumb bob idea will work as intended, given sufficient impact speed.

oh the old pykrete. I remember the mybuster episode where they made a boat out of that. That my friend is a very good idea.. Thank You. That is a must so when i do that you will get a mention on the show. Do you have a youtube page or anything? DYI?
