Punkin' Chunkin' is a contest to see who can launch a pumpkin the farthest without using any explosives. There are catapoults and stuff but the best machines are giant pneumatic pumpkin launchers.

I don't like the PVC barrels they are unsafe .... There was some one that lives about an hour a way from me who made a spud gun put something to heavy in weight and the PVC wasn't strong enough and it blew up in his face killing him instantly ....

Well that's a bit of useless information. If it wasn't cold outside and the barrel was adequately supported and operating below its working pressure, there is no reason that a heavy projectile would cause the barrel to fail.

he must have used concrete, that is very rare to hear, i know of people who shoot tennis balls filled with sand and never have a problem,

if anything be safe in what you do, just like the other day im at the range and guy put in a wrong round into his gun and blew up in his face, took off parts of his face, it was stupidity,

I would have to say post a link to the news report or it didn't happen. We usually catch wind of this stuff by osmosis somehow, and I don't think there's been a cannon-related death that wasn't cause by explosives or some other stupidity.
