They usually put a O ring groove in it so it will be leak-tight with out the glue. If you dont have the ability for the O ring groove you can use a wrap or two of teflon tape then twist it in.

but why not just put a threaded cap instead of messing with the o rings and stuff?

Threaded caps are very weak and this method allows for a much more compact design. Notice, in my valves everything is countersunk. It makes it look so much more professional.

you use piston's or diafragma's in your valve sgort87 ?
