Dual 3/4" QEV Copper Launcher!!

Behold my new launcher made entirely from Copper and the odd bit of brass and steel?

I built this launcher the other week it cost around £40 but i managed to scrounge a fair few bits mainly the large 35mm copper fittings as these are mega bucks (1x35mm 90 = £8-9 each!!!)

The reseaon it is entirely copper, is the fact being in the UK copper is more readily available!! also i think it looks pretty smart!!

The Chamber is made from two seperate lengths of 35mm copper 90'd and reduced into a 3/4 QEV one for each side.

The trigger and pilot are made up of 15mm copper, a blowgun for the exhaust and a shrader valve innerds removed with a check valve inbetween to stop back flow!!

Image

The Barrel is a length of 28mm copper onto a T peice and 2x 90's fed into the twin QEV's

Image

The Barrel is the only peice of 28mm i had left i plan to have a longer peice but not yet also i am going to add a commpression fitting to the T so that i can have interchangeble barrels

Here are a few more pics Check out my SOLDERING :D :D :D - i was pretty prowd as it is my first go on copper pipe!!!!!
it has also been brassod to make it all shiny - i plan to lacker it or maybe paint it????

Here's me destroying (well i say destroying more like peircing!!) a pumkin at 35psi!! - i only went to that as i have a leak past that point needs sorting!!!!!

As there is a slight leak i plan to re-design the whole back end and get rid of the fill valve and blowgun, in exchange for a single Slide valve with quick diconnect!!!!
Hope you all like - i have been into these things for about 5yrs now but i think this is my best creation to date - tell me what you all think!!!!

Decided to post here instead of UKSGC :)

I finally found that link again: http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/ ... ory&id=114

Its camoflage paint of various colours which works on metal if you're thinking of paint instead of laquer, £15 for a can delivered. I can't find any other sellers in the UK.

WOW! Increadible soldering job. I like the design. where did you get the qev's? DO NOT PAINT IT. It is one of the overall best looking cannons I have ever seen.

Dude, thats one awseme gun!Gota love that copper its sweet. What PSI is it shot at?

This thing is superclean, and DONT PAINT IT!IT would ruin the beautiful craftmanship that you can see.Give it a coat of laquer.

How much do those QEV's cost?

Nice soldering job. I see also that you know anything is removable from copper tubing, even oxide from soldering.

How long does it take that blowgun to pilot the Q.E.V.'s?

So far i have taken it to 35psi as you can see in the Vid this is due to a leak on the fill check valve - but i plan to replace that with a slide valve so it can be used semi-auto?? well for filling it anyway!!!!

the QEV's cost me £18 for the pair and the blowgun vents them in well under a second!!!

Thanks for the great comments - i am really pleased with this i love it so much, The soldering was the hardest bit, to get it looking neat I did some practice sweats before hand on some 15mm copper - but i found the 35mm was the easiest to solder, dont know weather that was due to the larger surface area for the heat displacement??? - but it just trickled in and the excess just nocked off with the end of the solder wire!!

Ok so - i have just ordered my 1/2" slide valve so that i can get rid of the Blowgun

This will allow me to take it to the max 145psi allowed by the valves

So when i go home for christmas i will get it finished and spend a few days launching with vids!!! - i can't wait!!!

I'm guessing it'll cost you around 140 bucks if you live in the U.S., what with all the large diameter copper and the two 3/4" valves. The valves alone would run you 45 bucks. The rest is just fittings and pipe... and copper aint cheap.

did you use two pistons? because there are two pipes leading to the barrel
