My first and second continous air launchers.

I had some spare time and parts, the barrel is not connected in the picture. It is powered by and internal 9oz Co2, 2-1/2" ball valves, 7"x1" expansion chamber. It is the shorter version of my other launcher.

My first attempt with contious air, barrel not attached, Powered by internal 9oz Co2, 1-1/4" and 1-1" ball valve, 9" expansion chamber that varies between 1/4" to 1" in dia, luncher needs to be finished (paint and bolted securly).

Ripped Tape method, When I have the time I have been doing to all my equipment. I have been leaving out the almond color, its too bright. With the long cannon with a 12"x2" barrel I have fired on of the light foam footballs (not even finned) about 50 yards up and 60 yards out firing like a morter. Firing a homemade 5oz painball grenade horizontal it went about 60 yards only because it slammed into a bunker eliminating all within and around. High power (and yes unregulated, you get a feel for it when you hear the Co2 fill the chamber) anti-tank/person/bunker/etc.

PVC is the shell, it is all metal internals except the barrel. I will not make a Co2 powered cannon with PVC expansion chamber without regulating (turn the pressure down) the Co2 and having a pressure gauge.

Thats only because I do not have the time. I am starting a paintball business and it takes alot of time just for filing for all your licenses.

So do you open one valve and fill the chamber? or expansion chamber that then fills a main chamber?

The first valve allows the expansion chamber to be charged, once charged the valve is closed. Then all you need is to quickly open the second valve to fire. It uses two valves for efficency. I can get about 9-10 shots on one 9oz Co2 making it use about an ounce per shot.

Wow so you must have to watch how much you shoot. Wouldn't it easier to use something like a palmer rock reg and build a normal cannon that operates at around ~ 90 psi?

what in the hell is smeared all over the first cannon? looks like jb weld or bondo :roll:

You are very close, actually it is Bondo Filler. It would not fit strait in the PVC pipe so I used foam strips to hold the valves and expansion chamber in place and secured everything in Bondo filler. Nothing moves, rattles, or leaks within it and it is completly solid from the packed foam and Bondo Filler. I will be putting a half section of PVC to smoothe it out later but that is what I did for the moment.

So the first picture has the bend setup and in the bottem half there is a 9oz CO2 tank? Or is the barrel? Im so confused..... lol

Normal Cannon? The purpose of using high pressure Co2 it to keep the barrel short, ability to fire multiple shots using a simple valve to fill the expansion chamber rather than a pump. With Co2 I do not need a massive expansion chamber to fire large heavy projectiles over large distances. These launchers have quick attaching and detaching barrels for easy and quick reloading.

In the next few months (providing the paintball business I just started goes well) I will be building somthing similiar to this (see link) only using Co2 from bulk 20-50lb tanks in a paintball tank. My plan is to make it rapid fire, belt fed, double barrel or more (too allow Co2 to fill expansion chamber between firing of barrels for more consistant shots).

Be using probably about 125psi and be able to adjust the pressure by a twist of a knob. Amfibious paintball tank (so I plan).
