First air cannon

I built this as my first air cannon and I think it works great.
I was shooting with the 2" potato barrel about 165+ yards.
A golf ball probably about 300+ yards.

This was only at 60 - 80 psi.

The chamber is 4" x 30" pvc and the barrels are from the top:
1 1/2" SDR-26 sleeved in SCH-80 for golf balls
1 1/4" pvc ramrod with a flat cap on the end - fits perfect in 2" barrel.
2 1/2" SCH 40 for tennis balls
2" SCH 40 for potatoes or ice slug or other general use. (attached to cannon)

All the barrel ends are 2" male thread to be interchangeable with my combustion gun as well.

Valve is a Orbit 57020 used in
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/viewtop ... html#22666

I put a ball valve in as a "safety" then a blow gun.
The second input on the sprinkler valve works great for the fill valve and pressure gage.

My gluing is a little sloppy because I was going to paint it some time.

nice gun. it would look real nice with some paint on it.

for future reference don't use dwv bell reducers.

that is a nice cannon. will look killer with sum paint. the only thing i could fault would be the dwv reducer on your chamber. but other than that nice work mate.

p.s i didnt mean it to sound like i was trying to find a fault mate. :)

Very nice cannon. How much does it weigh? It looks a little heavy to me. Nonetheless, it still looks good, especially for a first cannon. Welcome, and I hope to see more good creations.

Yeah - the dwv reducer was about all I could find that wouldn't have been 3-4 bushings to get down from 4" to 1".

The thing is pretty heavy. Especially with the golf ball barrel.
I may add a support at the end but it make changing the barrels a pain.

Great job for a first cannon. Just throw on a slab of paint to cover those primer stains and that thing will be extremly nice. I like the fact u have already made plenty of different barel sizes for it. Two thumbs up. :blob6:
