The CLAC is a very simple cannon. The CLAC was originally built and used to test a theory involving a sprinkler valve for a new gun I was planning. The purpose was to determine weather or not a sprinkler valve could handle rapid pressurization from a chamber. The cannon was built exactly as it looks now, minus the 2" female adapter on the end. The sprinkler valve was placed directly after the ball valve. Once testing was complete, I took off the sprinkler valve and ended up basically with a cannon with a 1" male adapter after the valve. So I took a piece of 1" pipe and put a female adapter on it and used that as the barrel for a while. Then I decided to make a cannon that could have 'cartridge' type things, filled with stuff that you could screw on and fire the stuff out (IE confetti). So I lopped off the male adapter and put on a 2" female adapter. I got some 2" pipe, male adapters, and knockout plugs.

The cartridges are just 11" of 2" pipe with a male adapter on one end. The knockout plug is on the other end to hold whatever you put in until you fire the cannon. Now to completely seal the cartridge for storage or whatever, I took some foamy packaging stuff (kind of like styrofoam but with more of a plastic consistency) and cut it into a circles a kind of wadding. This is the same stuff I used to make the shoulder rest for the TTAC . The plug was stuffed down to the bottom of the cartridge.

So now I had a fully working pneumatic cannon. The cartridges are loaded by simply pouring whatever you want in the pipe and closing it up with the knock out plug!

Now, what to put in them?! First I tried to make a 'smoke screen' type of thing with a butt load of ashes form the fireplace. This was pretty cool, it made a big cloud of 'smoke' that drifted down the street. For parties, I decided to make a confetti cartridge. These were all pretty cool. Water doesn't really work too well (the wadding isn't a tight enough seal).

I painted the cannon with some old cheap grey paint that chips off too much, heh oh well!! This cannon is very rarely used except on special occasions (where crap loads of high speed confetti is needed)

I like the fact that you can take off the barrel and change it, maybe you should think about doing that to the chamber too, you know, so you can make a giant chamber with a 2" barrel, then change it to a small chamber with a 1" barrel.

Yeah, i think that is the first time i have seen interchangable barrels on a pnuematic. I like it. A real simple pnuematic, real clean

i think its crap, my pneumatic is as basic as that and its better
but good effort

Woah, WOAH, WOAH!!!. Why the comment. Would you like it if someone insulted a gun that you posted?
I don't care how crappy a gun looks, it doesn't deserve to be called crap. People put their time and effort into these things for the performance, not aesthetics. NOrmally with performance and aesthetics, one is sacrificed for the other. He said it did the job it was designed to do. End of story, PERIOD.

i second that, the gun is basic. it wasn't designed to shoot for miles, if was a short, fun project. like he says, the gun was built to test a new sprinkler valve for another gun he was planning, not to impress the readers.

really hardcore, i speak only for my self here, bt if you are going to treat people that way, you're really not welcome

What one might want to point out is that many components are not pressure rated.

He's not getting banned for this though. He is abrasive, though, as can be seen in his first post as well as here... might want to whatch that, buddy.

It reminds me of my first pneumatic cannon. I like it, mine had a changable barrel too.

that gun has a simple yet effective design. just like drac says, it was designed to do a specific job and whatever it was it seemed to have worked.

Brilliant mate, after I've been dead so long can you bring me back to life.

Even though this is a bump, it is a great example to what happens to abusive posters. Try to send hardcor22 a PM. :) Live and learn.
