Nice cannon, although I can't say that I understand the piston assembly and how it works. Do you think you could explain it a bit?

Usually refered to as a Toolies style piston because I think Toolies was the first to introduce the concept to the spudtech comunity. http://my.freeway.net/~toolies/ has a couple diagrams of how it is setup internally. It is the same concept as a coaxial piston gun, but rather than exending the barrel to the back of the chamber, you extend the sealing surface of the piston to the front of the chamber while keeping the actual piston at the back.

I took a look at the diagrams and now I understand it. Thanks for the link Clide.

very cool gun. I was looking at the link that clide posted. I was wondering what kind of cup to use. Obviously it has to be plastic, but how thick and flexible does it need to be?
Thanks
Mitch

hmm i'd say just try different cups, if one doesnt work you can always take it apart and use a different one

not the red ones or blue ones you use at parties. You know, the disposible plastic ones. I suggest you make the chamber 4" in diameter, and use a 3" endcap sanded around the edges just enough to fit into the pipe.

ok, nice, I'll try that out, and see how it works. Thanks. Another quick question. In a lot of diaphram guns and piston guns, people use a thick rubber, hard material. What is this material and where do I get it?

Thanks
Mitch

You can use any type of rubber that will make a good seal against the end or your barrel (or chamber in a chamber-sealing piston). Bike inner tube is common as are neoprene washers which can be bought at home depot or lowes.
