Anti-Personnel Mine

Problem: bolt action airsoft snipers suck at close range no mater how much power they have, especially against AEGs

Solution: a remotely detonated mine to use to both distract and terminate targets

*i have intentionally made this mine underpowered to avoid serious injury (most of the kids i play wear shorts)*

this mine was made just as any other pneumatic cannon would be, it uses a unmodified sprinkler valve to fire. but there is one thing that sets it apart from other cannons... its detonated by a modified cell phone! here are some pictures of version 2 (v1 would randomly detonate without warning so i rebuilt it but i still have a few problems to work out... for example i can activate this mine by turning on a light switch. i dot think this will be a problem because we play deep in the woods most of the time)

<img src="http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j85/i ... CN2682.jpg">

heres a picture of all the electronic components. at the top of the photo you can see the solenoid from the sprinkler valve. moving down a bit more on the left you can see the detonator (aka cell phone). now if we move to the right a little more we can see a spool with green wire on it, this is the antenna. i usually put the mine close to a tree so the antenna can be wrapped around the tree. on the far right of the photo is the box the majority of the electronics are contained in. it is part of an r/c car chassis (a cheap $15 one from kb toys) at the bottom of it is a battery holder that stores 4 AA batteries, these power the r/c car receiver. the motor output wires from the receiver are connected to a 5v relay which is connected to the big 9.6v battery pact (the bottom of the picture) and the solenoid. basically when the forward button is pressed on the remote the receiver picks up the signal and turns on the relay which allows power to flow to the solenoid which opens the valve detonating the mine. i coated all the electronics in this box with hot glue then covered the whole thing in electrical tape.

here we have a picture of the whole mine. i will now tell you what i mean my modified cell phone basically i reverse engineered the r/c car transmitter and miniaturized it a bit, then soldered the wire which would usually connect to the forward button on the remote to the end button on the phone and i modified the 9v battery connector so it would accept smaller batteries (like the ones found in car key fobs)

heres the mine from a different angle

heres a video of it in action

Better watch it. The idea of detonating things using electronics is generally frowned upon in the U.S.

still rather expensive per a unit ant big, very cool still. I'd recomend camofloging the tip, some paint and fake dirt would work

How do you use the cell phone to trigger it?

Cool. Are you a sniper in airsoft, and use this close to your sniping nest to eliminate close range AEG targets, or do I have this backwards?

That is rather amazing, especially the cell phone trigger. 8)

Hey I've got that same phone! The 90's were good for something.

ipaintball, call up the ATF and ask how its triggered. :D They'll of course ask for your name and home address, but that's for sending you the remote triggering guide

He's not "detonating" anything. Detonation refers to an explosion than has a VOD over the speed of sound. Neither of which applys here. And the electronic part isn't any worse than having a trip line or a pressure activated control to set it off.
If anything, I think making a claymore type mine would work better. Then you don't have to be there to set it off. Just have fishing line tied to a tree, and have it around the trigger on a blowgun, with a spring added.

iknowmy3tables - well this technically only cost me $15 all i actually had to buy was the r/c car th rest was stuff i had left over from other projects or found in my basement. as for the camo i could probably just cover it with a thin layer of dirt and it would work fine

iPaintball - i triggered by a modified cell phone, the caption under the second picture explains it pretty much

origin unknown yea pretty much or to distract then so i have time to fire a second shot. im like a super soldier i got a modified shotgun with a high powered rifle scope and a tight bore (getting a UTG shadow ops soon) and a vortex gun as a back up but its kinda heavy to carry the vortex gun so i am trying to find alternatives. usually i carry around one or the other depending on the field.

pyrogeek - i realize that but it sounds cooler. and i have tried mechanical trigger and have gotten rather pissed off with them becuase they seem to be too sensitive and go of when im trying to set it or not sensitive enough and don't go off at all. besides a remote detonated mine is a ton cooler than a normal mine. also i have different nozzles for different sprays, in fact i have a 3" one for an ultra wide spray

Your right that is way more awesome than a mechanically triggered mine. I have never played airsoft before so I dont know when you would ever have the time in a game to set it up and hide it. But good job, that is wicked.

Flipping cool! I really love how its cellphone triggered, much better than normal, if you ask me! well done

that is an awesome thing you've done singularity would you mind going into details about how you used the phone to trigger it?

If you haven't already. :D :D

the caption under the second picture pretty much explains it, if your still lost i guess i could grab a picture of the internals if you wanted

(most of the kids i play wear shorts)

lol if your friends are American like me then they probaly wear lose baggy shorts, and boxers. if their so dumb to stand over it then that could end up very painful

yea thats why i made it underpowered but if you get hit by it its still gonna hurt like hell with shorts
