jrrdw : both wheels should be powered and spinning at the same speed. They don't have tobe in contact with eachother, only with the projectile.

i think thats kind of ovious

Do you think that that thing can have some good power or it will just crush the non paint balls?

In two words “Over Complicated”. With at least two if not three motors that have to be in perfect sync for the gun to work, plus the alignment of the two wheels being so critical, and not mention the wiring. I don't think that level of complication is a good idea. It's just an innovation for problems.

But I always K.I.S.S. (keep it simple, stupid).

Instead of buying a huge battery and some expensive motor, try using some sort of air tool for the power. Maybe a die grinder? They spin several thousand RPM and plus you can run off air. Maybe evn hook up a painball tank for portable power.

I have a NERF gun that works on this concept and another toy that shoots foam discs. They both work great so I'm sure it's possible.

It will be far less complicated and reliable then other full auto guns but the kenetic energy of the projectiles will be pathetic so I'm thinking of another idea.

What if you would add more wheels?

What about tracks, instead of wheels? It would be more complicated, but it would allow the projectile to be accelerated for a longer amount of time, so hopefully it could fire things at a higher velocity.
And instead of two motors, just have one motor drive both wheels or tracks, but use a larger motor to compensate.
I'm weird, I know it, you don't need to tell me.

Yea thats what I was thinking. More wheels=higher velocity. Tracks is less complicated, nice Pyro!

honestly i dont think you'll get very good performance with this since youd need REALLY fast spinning wheels, maybe youd even need multiple wheels in succesion. It would also need to be very precise.

I'd suggest that if you wanted to make an electronic nail gun you should make a gauss (coil) gun. This uses high charges to produce an extreemly strong solenoid magnet which will shoot feromagnetic rods such as nails. I'v made one out of stuff from radioshack and it draws blood. lol found out the hard way.

you saw on mythbusters the rig with spinning wheels that shot cards , now i thought that you get a wireless angle grinder and modify it so that it spins 2 disks and then fide out some way to feed the cards in , i guess that could make a fully auto card gun easy but wireless angle grinders dont come cheep 8)
Actually, if you get a regular old angle grinder, you can go to Wal-Mart and get an attachment that will make it wireless for about 10 Bucks. Wal-Mart usually has them around christmas, they are to turn christmas lights on and off with a remote.
