Cloud 9

Okay, here's my first attempt at making a BB machine gun. I did my homework and decided to make a 'cloud' type repeater. This decision was based on the fact that it was indeed easier than building a vortex block, and yielded almost the same results. From what I understand, vortex blocks consume less air, therefore allowing for more 'run' time. Is this true? Regardless, I'm sure I'll build one anyway eventually.

Below is the video link of my shooter in action. I am using 6mm air soft bb's in a 7.9 mm brake line. All of the auto part stores in my area have brake line that goes from 6.3mm, which is too small - go figure, to 7.9. The blow-by is minimal although it does exist. If I can find something better I'll switch barrels, I'm always looking. In the meantime the thing shoots like a champ.

I made a backstop from a cardboard box and some old bed sheets, which works very well. -Lp

Very nice! Could you get a stack of old CD's and get a vid of you shooting them? That would look really cool.

I don't know, they just look really cool when they shatter because all the shiny foil comes off the plastic and floats around in the air.

Oh and you don't need lots of money, you can get cd's for FREE easily. Eg ask anyone who has dial-up for the old cd's they use to top up their internet time, the free cd's you get in cereal boxes, the cd's that come free in the sun-herald, scrached cd's that don't work anymore etc.

Yeah, it's so hugely complicated, you'd better research for a few years first.

How well does that brakeline fit the bb's? is it like an airsoft barrel salvaged from a cheap springer or is it loose like a pen tube?

There is blow-by, but it's not too bad. The brakeline is 7.9mm.

Try any auto parts store. Take a few airsoft bb's or whatever your planning to use as ammo with you. Ask the clerk where they keep the brake line, (some keep it in the back of the store but will let you go back and look) and just see which fits the bb the best.

I've also heard of someone using the metal tube from the pressurized garden/bug sprayers, although I've never tried it.

Good luck making one, they're loads of fun! -Lp
