Kai's Darts

Hi im a noob here and the first thing i decided to do was to share the darts i have used for a while now. These were inspired by blowgun darts since i have been into them and pneumatic pvc guns for like 5 years. There are 2 main ways to make these, target points, or spearhead points. Anyway, first, you will need:

-printer paper

-wire hangers (i use spokes from an old beach umbrella because they are a thicker gauge and are made out of spring steel so they're more resilient)

-a rotary tool aka a dremel (You can improvise)

-a compass for drawing circles.

-a gluestick

-a ruler

-bolt cutters

-hot glue gun

-sicssors

Ok lets start, first take the paper and draw circles with a radius of 2.5cm(this is for 1/2" pvc barrel). Make sure you mark the center w/ a dot, now, take a ruler and devide each circle into 4 equal parts so they look like cross hairs on a scope. then cut all the circles out, once this is done, cut each circle in half folowing one of the lines. So now, you should have a bunch of semi-circles w/ a line drawn perpendicular to the diameter. now, glue on one side of the line, and then take the strait edge of the unglued side and bring it to the drawn boundary of the glued side, then roll the glued side onto the rest of the cone(cone design courtesy of sputnick). leave them to dry while you cut your wire into 5" sections. If you want spearheads, flatten one end w/ a hammer and use bolt cutters to cut the flattened end to a point. Now, take your dremel tool ant shrpen the edges untill you have a razor sharp harpoon like tip(spuntick also came up w/ the spearhead concept), or if you are just making target pionts, use the dremel to make a point like a pencil's. now, cut the tip off of one of your cones and poke th back end of the dart through the hole so you have the cone in the middle of the dart. now take the hot glue gun and put a little glob of glue on the rear and of the shaft, then pull the cone over the end and let it harden and wallah, you have a dart fit to fly 300 feet acurately into a target.

Some of this info came from Sputnick AKA Thebluemartyr

nice how to seem really easy bye the way i now your new here but dont talk about hunting killing or shooting any living thing unless you have pb or airsoft gun thats voted to be used at a paintball or airsoft field

voted??? please clearify. But anyway, back to the darts, i've found the cones to be a little fragile, i mean in a blowgun, the moisture from my breath in the pipe screws the paper up after a few shots, is there any way i can improve them for durability, that is really easy to do and i dont need special supplies.

i did not mean voted i mean you ask the manger at the field and they chrono it and if it has the same power as normal pb gun then they might agree to let you use it

darts
you could take plastic like a some from a box the clear plastic you take a candle and you put it on the top and you watch the plastic become soft and you see it saging down then you put in the dart in the middle and you let it cool and then you cut the plastic so its even and then you hot glue it

Welcome to Spudfiles.

Just out of curiosity, did you learn to make these on instructables from one called "the best blowgun"

because I happen to be the author of that particular instructable.

and this is EXACTLY how I described making the darts.

the ultimate hunting blowgun

so i have to have a homemade paintball/airsoft gun first? Because the gun i used to have but was broken w/ a sledge hammer and now im rebuilding it, was used for vermin hunting and a single shot airsoft sniper/shotgun.

for the cones, they could be coated in wax.

also, plagiarism=bad

actually, i got the spearhead idea from you but i have been making the target point type before i read that.

Kai, I was not referring to the point, I was referring to the cone design, which as anyone can see, is nearly exactly the method I use. Anyone who has made a blowgun has used just pointed rod, but that cone design was unique, and I designed it through hours of mathematical problem solving and trial and error.

i have always made cones similar to this method but i used your way to make it easier to understand, i understand if you're upset or offended, if you want, i'll put a citation in there for you.

Yes, that is the least I expect, Please give reference to both my spudfiles name and instructables name

bet you didn't expect to get confronted by by the author on here huh?

and as predicted, I am quite upset that you would try to steal my work, and pass it off as your own.

Needless to say, this is not a good start or first impression you have made here.

you say thats the least you expect, is there anything else that you want me to do?

wallah
uhmm.... you mean 'voila' ?? sorry no offence intended but that just made my day..

very nice how-to but I doubt that they can survive high pressures

@ sputnick oh come on, he didn't mean it... besides it's not such a big deal - everything has been designed by someone - do you you really always give refference...? like -> 'I'll phone® (invented by Graham Bell) you later'
sure he should have mentioned that and it would be really good... he didn't - and he understands that
