I will likely never have a use for it, but damn it is a good movie, with some real explanations and proofs

The only reason I see to have a suppressor is neighborhood courtesy; and even then shooting a gun is rather loud.

Though the bang is half the fun, and can be useful. For example i use a non ammo firing burst disk gun to scare parrots and all of that out of our fruit trees. Don't need to kill them but do need to get rid of them...

not just more applicable, they will actually harm the performance, because most gases leave the barrel at cold temperatures. When they come in contact with the steel wool, or what ever, they will actually heat up...

After watching the whole 45min. I build this...


2mm thick aluminium tube, 2 brass fittings, steel wool and foam spacer.

And yes it really works well on a pneumatic. It takes away the sharp crack above 200 psi.

I scanned over it, But there's no way I will watch 45+ minutes on something so elementary.

Didn't notice mention that the first .22 silencer patented actually stated on the patent that it's purpose was disposal of pests from hen houses without causing the chickens to drop their eggs!

Also didn't notice mention of attachment by boring out the end of barrel, threading the inside, and attaching silencer with male threads into female threaded barrel.

Also no mention (I noticed) of using rubber baffles sandwiched between metal baffles (or fender washers) a method that is capable of reducing the sound enough to hear the firing pin strike and ejection/ slide spring only.
which brings me to the statement near the end that it was " impossible to reduce the sound to be unnoticeable" which was incorrect , well except for hearing projectile impact.

Most of those designs were very crude and could be maximized for size reduction as well as noise reduction based on personal experience .
But the basics were covered.

I agree that it's basic and incomplete, however it's a good start for those with absolutely no concept of what a silencer is and no clue how to build one.

...perhaps because such suppressors have a considerable effect on performance and accuracy as well as needing much more maintenance.

I agree there, especially with some of the better suppressed 0.22" riflesout there.
