Thats right you read it. I am going to show how to make a simple cast of a trigger and a sear. This will be very basic and using basic things. I think the hardest thing to find out of everything would be the pewter. Pewter can be bought from Ebay and the current price is £4 for 80g £10 for 250g and £25 for 500g. The rest is easy. You need fire or a heat source (Gas top cooking stove works) Some pliers, A old food tin like a soup can (Steel) for your ladle, some thin wood preferably 2mm MDF or 15mm Plywood, a hacksaw and big hand saw to cut big pieces, a coping saw would help but could be done with hacksaw (A dremel roto tool would work a swell), a drill and some screws and or bolts with matching nuts, and an old spoon to scrape "slag" of the hot pewter. If I need anything else I will add it. The next posts will be Thursday the 5th September and I will show you how I make a trigger and sear from pewter and wood.

Yeah, pewter will practically gall at the trigger/sear interface. Making a trigger from steel isn't difficult, $20 for a good bastard file and $5 of sandpaper will get you one slowly, $15 for an angle grinder and the same paper will get you one in 10 minutes.

Hmm the problem I currently have is that I live in the uk and dont have anywhere close by to get any metal or anything or else I would make one from steel. If I can find some steel of like 5mm thick I will use that instead of the pewter idea and use my dremmel roto tool to cut and shape it :).

Why do you have a thread asking how to make a trigger mech and one that is supposed to be a tutorial on how to make a trigger mech?

Oh no they are two different applications that is why. This one was initialy meant for just showing how I made one from pewter like only the trigger and sear. The other thread is my pneumatic airgun that I am building and on that one its not the trigger I need help with but actually the hammer mechanisim such as the bolt and spring that will hit my hammer valve to allow a burst of air for each shot etc. This thread like I sat is just on how I made a simple trigger from pewter. Not the full working mechanisim with a bolt and springs etc. If you understand what I mean ? Cheers

Gotcha. Making a little homemade foundry has been on my mind lately for making small custom metal parts... So I'd like to see where you're going with this.

Hehe awesome stuff. I have family who own 2 foundries and I got an A in casting at school lucky me. But for now this will be a ghetto setup but should work. Pics on this asap just gota get back home.
