Time to double my burst disc!
I have results! Not particulary the ones i was after...
The sabot was made from acetal, i found one tiny bit of it after it contacted the steel. I fired a shot at 5mm plate steel from 15 feet, this was at a 3x mix from my 700ml Hybrid. I think i have found it's name "LGH"*.
Anyway, any one who says that plate steel is hard to penetrate is making the understatement of the year!
I have not found the dart. (i did find the tail though)
First pic is the sabot with dart, second is "damage pic" (if it actually counts as damage
) The drill in the pic is 1mm, for reference. Anyway feel free to laugh your ass off at this pathetic attempt! *
little gay hybrid.
Edit: Computer decided to become non- user friendly

That couldn't have been going very fast if it only left a dent, that or the dart wasn't properly supported in the sabot and it did not strike perpendicular to the plate.

I don't believe that the round was travelling slow as it is, my guess is around 700 fps. However there is a clear impression of the point of the dart AND sabot, my guess is that the dart did not remove itself from the sabot- my bad of coarse. It was probably a bit of a lame attempt, i really do need to make a truly discarding sabot
. I know for a fact that a crudely made "bolt" will penetrate two 20ltr (4.5 gal) metal drums filled with h2o at a 1x mix though.
Any observations that i may be too simple to understand are welcome.
Kind of pissed me off a little (the damage) hence the name LGH. Maybe i need to grow some BALLS!
Edit: Just for the record i will not be giving this attempt another go.
Like hell i won't, i challenge anyone with a hybrid to open up a can of whoopass on plate steel (of any thickness)
