would there be any problems using cast brass fittings in a homemade stirrup pump? i'm using 3/4" copper so chances are i'm not going to be using it over 300psi

umm no why do you think there would be problems? Unless they had no threads then you would have to solder them. but plenty of spudders(including me) do that when we make cannons so you should be fine.

i just wasn't sure if the fact that they were cast would make any kind of difference as to how much pressure they could hold so i figured i'd check just in case. but after seeing your answers i went out to lowes and bought all the pieces i need for a pump. should have it made by tomorrow :) and shortly after should be a copper gun to utilize it's full potential.

Cast means it was poured from molten metal. When its not cast its usually machined, or extruded.
