you probably already no this but if you have a 3/4 barrel you can make really cheap ammo out of 9 pennies and a piece black electrical tape that's roughly about 1 inch.has any one already done this?

The subject has come up before. Worth a read as to the specific legalities:
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/coin-sh ... 11480.html

In short: It's not really legal to do it, but it is definitely certainly frowned upon - however, if the cops start fussing about you damaging a few bucks of pennies, ask them how much money in the country is counterfeit.

(Unfortunately, the latest estimates for the UK believe up to 2% of pound coins are counterfeit, which isn't helping the financial crisis.)

i just fired my third one at a can full of water and it went strait though it and the 1l2 in plywood.I know this is nothing special but on later studies i found a perfect imprint of the penny on the aluminum can.

Ha ha :D I had a similar thing happen when I shot a milk jug full of water with my golfball cannon... It left a nice golfball imprint on a piece that tore off... I still keep it in my room :D

It's been proven to be a poorly performing load for a powder-burning shotgun.

There are other waysto shoot coins though ;)

Of course, during this nasty recession, that law is kinda silly. After all, the effect of printing more money to cover government debt just devalues the currency right? So, you think they'd want to encourage the population to destroy bills/coins in order to raise the value of the dollar. Heck, shooting pennies as ammo could even be looked at as a patriotic act!

this isnt illegal because your not intentionally defacing the money, it might not even damage it, and on that note are those machines at the zoo that squash your penny into an oval with a picture technically illegal?

I think its a reference to starskey(sp) and hutch. Where hutch (Owen Wilson) owes Willis money.
