Fishing sinkers as ammo

I was looking around the fishing section at my local walmart when i found some 1/4 and 1/2 fishing sinkers, They look perfect for ammo. Its made out of 100% lead and has a good weight to it. they have a little hole in it for the string, which pretty much makes it a hallow point. Check out the pics, It only costed 1.75$ for a pack of 7, and the O.D. is consistent for use as ammo. This thing is sure to make a nice hole in some watermelons! But you have to use really high pressure to move the bullet through a barrel so small and get a goof FPS. Image Image

If someone can find these, please make a video of use with a QEV and high pressure, my compresser can only goto 125psi, so i cant use them, but i would love to see what they coule do

In the interest of stability and preventing gas blowby, it would be a good idea to drill out the base and plug the hole.

JSR, How about a Corbin style swaging die, use those weights as the starting point for a die system that can flare, bulge, crimp, change caliber etc. Maybe use these weights with plastic sabots. :)

I bet you could start by modifying a copper tubing flaring tool....

Well i did plug the bottom of the hole to prevent blowby, but i left the top hallow = hallow point! i wonder what it would to ballistic gel

Do I sense a new sabot/ammo design?

Conical Array Sabot (CAS]

I will post a drawing. This is the 1.5" version.
The same array patten could be used for 1.7" and 2" version.

You could use just one "bullet" at a time to reduce shotgun pattern.

edit for: clarification

Awww... wait for it... Some find!
I'll go and look for some of these later.
Instead of a hollow point, I thought about putting a lead or steel bb in the front opening. I little extra weight towards the front might even help with stability, maybe?
Again, great find and I can't weight till someone uses these at some high pressures...
OMG, you found the (almost) invisible message! Congrats, you are awesome...

Hmmm.. eyes large cannon with screw on barrels in larger sizes. Eyes old 6 cylinder distributor cap. Thinks of possibilites with the new cannon on the drawing board. Looks for old V-8 Distbutor cap and calipers.

I posted some video here of firing sinkers through a can and a car door.

They are a different shape, though, and non-lead so expansion is minimal. But a perfect fit in 1/2" type m copper, which was sweet.

I would love to see these in a tight bore, rifled barrel. you would probably have to plug up the end though cause I would think alot of your pressure would just go through the ammo. You could just drop a really really hot bb into the back of it.

Well, I don't know if you read everything in the above posts, but you probably should...
I'm not trying to be mean, but we already talked about the hole in the weight, and I kinda already proposed the bb idea...
If what you are thinking about doing with the bb is different than what I said, sorry. Please explain, or... Apologize!

Nice ideas, i guess it might work, how ever the weight of the weights(lol) might be too high to be used as proper ammo. I like usign the round lead sinkers for my bro's 5 and 6mm guns. Really i recomend you just use pellets, they are up to the job, or you manage to find a supply of different cal. bullets(without the cartridge ect. Just the lead(or copper jacketed !!!) part)
@dewey: For a normal person that diagram looks like a multi person dildo, if you make it air powered it has a place in the NSGR section :D!

I try to make my designs serve as a multi-purpose devices such that everybody can enjoy!

How is that for true functionality!

How is it you know so much about those devices at your age?

4th base??? How many bases are there before you reach home plate???

When you're old and married, you're lifes mission will be to not fall asleep in the dugout...While waiting to get your chance to bat...
