Pipe FITTING Dimensions?

Does anybody know of a site with pipe fitting dimensions? I want to design a valve to scale.

Just remember that dimensions will vary slightly (non-mating surfaces) from manufacturer to manufacturer.

For instance, a 2" coupling by one manufacturer may have a slightly different outside diameter than a 2" coupling by another manufacturer. I always bring calipers with me to Home Depot. :wink:

On that note, the the inside diameter of pipe also goes by that rule. The I.D. of fittings and the O.D. of pipe can also vary slightly from batch to batch, and by even more, from manufacturer to manufacturer. There are only certain tolerances they have to go by.

Charlotte pipe (this is what all of the stores near me in Florida carry), has this CD that contains 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawing of all their pipe and fittings. I just ordered it, as it's completely free. They also have this page which has all of their parts catalogs (and dimensions), and had the download link for the AutoCAD files, but is currently down. If you don't have AutoCAD, many other CAD programs support the AutoCAD formats (e.g. .DXF), such as this free 2D program QCAD which is very similar to earlier versions of Autodesk AutoCAD.

false,the OD of pipe is held to tight tolerences becasue if they are off slighly the strengh of the bond to the fitting could be reduced and that means it could preform below standard. also the pipe is extruded through a fixed steel peice and the steel is pretty consistant in size...
the same goes for the id of the sockets on the fittings

I said "slightly". They still have certain tolerances (even if it is by the 1/1000 of an inch).
