27 year old 2" Sprinkler Valves

Just picked up four 2" sprinkler valves for $20NZD (10-15USD), problem is they're 27 years old haha. I think I can get at least one or two working, I really only needed one.

According to the seller:
Diaphragm #1 has stretched at the inner diameter, and its sealing seat is deformed.
Diaphragm #2has a hole in it
Diaphragm #3 is distorted at the outer diameter
Diaphragm #4 appears ok but sealing seat is cracking radially

So I can probably fix at least diaphragm #2 and swap the 'phragm from #4 with another valve casing. The valves are rated for 140PSI, will only take them to 120PSI max (spent their lives in a shed, so minimal exposure to elements).

If anyone (Aussies in particular) wants a valve/spare parts after I've got two working valves (or one if only one will work), i'll sell them very, very cheaply to anyone who wants to pay shipping.

You could try making a new diaphragm for one and just keep the valve body if you can't get one working, otherwise, I think it's funny how you're gonna try to use one of these dinosaurs lol :D

I'd just get a rubber washer as big as the ID of the inside of the sprinkler valve, then just reinforce to with a wash a bit smaller than the seat on the front, and a washer a little bit larger on the back. You should use nylon if you can find it. Also fill from the top of the valve

For some reason I could help thinking "He'd be better off with twenty 7 year old valves" :D interesting find hehe

Cleaned the valves up today, they look pretty good and are in nice condition. I got 3 useable 'phragms and 3 useable valve bodies so i'm quite pleased with that. Just hope they all work now.

"Useable", what do you have in mind? Oooh oooh, pop-off piloting and make a big feck-off soup tin auto! How big is your compressor :D

*Cough* "usable" :D
No one has time for spell check these days anyway

Currently in mind, a tennis ball/soda can cannon. GGDT says f-all improvement using two valves, so just need the one. Other two valves can join my four 1" sprinkler valves and do nothing

"Kiwible", surely :D

Yes, the one should suffice - and one of those 1 inchers would make a good pilot ;)
