Help, materials needed!

Hello everybody,
I need some help, I've been making spud guns for years now but I haven't changed from the classic hair-spray lighter method, I have an idea for a smoke screen device where when you start it It would spray powdered chalk around creating a small smoke screen. The problem is I have no idea how I would even begin to start this project. I already know the design for the barrel and chamber for the chalk, the problem i have is with the actual workings of air pressure and values, I'm kinda new to that entire area. I want to use a paint ball tank and connect it to the chamber of the PVC apparatus. I know i will need a regulator (specifically one that will release X amount of gas when i pull the trigger), a wide valve for optimal dispersement, and preferably a tube long enough to store the tank on say a belt or backpack. Also, if you have any ideas about how to connect the regulator to a trigger esk device that would be really help full. I play a lot of airsoft and had this idea when talking to someone about grenade launchers.
Many thanks in advance,
Josh
