OK, since the search doesn't work, I need help finding a thread:

A long time ago, somebody linked a site for a company that made large piston-type QEVs for cleaning out concrete pumping pipe.


I can't find the thread, and search is no help because entering two or more words generates some kind of error.

This one or the more recent one?

jrrdw, thank you for the article. I'm sure that it will help me a great deal in making searches WHEN THE SEARCH IS NOT ACTUALLY BROKEN.

I tried multiple times to search for the topic, and any search that included more than one word resulted in an error screen.


POLAND: That's the one, thank you! Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I'll be able to use that valve for what I'm planning... 120psi rating is WAY to low.

That rating is more than enough. 120 psi with the 6 inch valve on the largest body pushes a 500 gram (17.6 ounce) projectile to around 570 feet per second with 5598 ft/lbs of force in a 4 inch by 5 foot barrel. I used the dimensions given in .pdf form on their site for the largest model. That is a ridiculous amount of energy for a pneumatic cannon.

Edited due to ggdt giving me nitrogen instead of air.

I just used the key words "qev valve" and got rersults, no errors.

What search box are you using and what key words?

Other then getting 10+ pages of threads to go through, I see nothing wrong with the search. You can narrow the returned results by refining your search words as the article describes...

I want to see the error page your getting.

I got an error too. I tried searching "large piston valve" and got this.

I just use google to search the forums, for example, lets use JSR's rattlesnake HPA valve... so if we want to find this thread, we simply go to google and type this: and you can see that the thread I am looking for is among the top results...

yes the search absolutely sucks balls just type site:spudfiles.com then put what your searching for, spudfiles needs a google search on the website

The 'advanced' search is perfectly fine, same as any other forum. Granted, if you're looking for some sprinkler valve cannon and don't remember the builder or the name of the cannon, you're screwed, but you would be screwed on any other forum as well.

I searched "remote ignition" today in all sections, returned 150 results or so I think. Took me 2 minutes to scroll through and pluck the relevant ones. I could have further narrowed it down if I wasn't worried about not including some topics on the subject.

Mr. Crowley: I got the same error message in advanced search AND the simple search box. Using the search modifier terms "and", "or", or "not" prevents the error, but if you search two or more words without search modifiers, it errors every time.


Mr. Tallahassee: 120psi isn't enough. My goal is to find out what it takes to cause a #2 food can to come apart either in mid-air or in the barrel.

An engineer friend of mine is going to help me design my valve, and I'm trying to track down a scuba compressor for a reasonable price.

Seems pointless to make that remark. What would anyone do with a SCUBA compressor except build a 200X hybrid?
