Since 1.5inch doesn't fit perfectly in 2" pipe you could put caps on both ends and sand down the sides a little till it was a perfect fit. Or if you don't feel like doing all that sanding then just don't use caps and stick some wadding in behind it.

What about putting a cone shape mateirial while inserting cement so when it dries you have a double rapped sharp sabot just take the end cap off on the sharpened side so it can peirce?

haha... well the plaster IS all kinds of heavy, but when i used foam balls with the plaster it turned it all kinds of light... which is exactly what i wanted... I would love to put some kind of fins on that rod so thats the next step in this little experiment. Right now i'm firing it out of a metered propane combustion gun, but i'm in the process of building a high pressure sch 80 pneumatic gun. Unfortunately my ignition just went on my combustion soooo I haveta replace it when i get the chance or wait to get the pneumatic done. But as soon as I get a perfected model, I'll let you guys know.

The one other thing I might try is spray foam for the sabot to get rid of the plaster and make it lighter.

i love to use sleeper ammo, the kind that seems weak and is truely far from, such as a dixie cup full paper towels crumpled up after being fully saturated in water, ill blow your mind what they'll do.
