oh, I've dealt with recoil before (10 pounds of ammo, 6 feet of recoil) as long as It can move backwards, and the barrel Is securely strapped down, it's no big deal.

but, if the gun somehow came to be braced against a railroad tie, and the barrel is not strapped down, and the ammo is 10 pounds of produce, well , then this happens.

it's fixed now, see.

no, It didn't explode, the recoil flexed the barrel up, causing the tee under the barrel to crack, along with the reducer. they are in that condition because I cut/broke them off so I could put new ones on. all the pressure was out of the gun when this happened. don't assume.ImageImageImageImage

How about this for some destruction/penetration/damage?

ammo used was frozen eggs. First hard boil the eggs till the shells crack, and then remove the eggs from the water (carefully). They load into a barrel just like a spud, except they are a lot harder. This works perfect with some eggs that have expired.

ok, sounds cool. that was posted on spudshot, wasn't it? do you think they would be harder If you let them soak and saturate in the water, then froze them?

I made the concrete thing, will post damage later or tomorrow. used a billiard ball. I must say, they don't disappoint :!:

well, thats why i say to hard boil till they crack, some water soaks into the egg. If they are not hard boiled they dont freeze as much.

oh, makes sense. I found a steel ball that fits the inside of the barrel perfect. wow.

I took a piece of 2" aluminum pipe, and threaded both ends. I will cut a section out of the top, then sleeve it with 2.5 inch PVC (perfect fit) then tap on the screw in side handle off an angle grinder, then , Viola, A breech loader!

I got a large ball bearing that fit perfect into a 40mm barrel it weighs about 150 grams and i have yet to fire it because i dont no what it will take to stop all its inertia.

A solid lead slug!
Preferably rifled and conical, sold point not hollow, the heavier the better.
Oh and for maximum damage semi/full wad cutter.
And for the best of both worlds go semi-wadcutter like the old 45colt(long colt to the unwashed masses.)

Go to the hobby shop and buy the biggest model rocket you can fit in you barrel (the tube part), then cut the fins equaly on each side so that it fits inside the barrel. Then fill the whole thing with cement (or any other fully curring filler you wish), you might need to cut a hole in the cone in order to fill it with cement (the dried cement will hold the cone on the tube). To fire just put it in the cannon half way sticking out (put wadding before it) then put wadding around the cone so that it is held in the middle of the barrel. finish by loading your new toy. Goes realy far and has really good penitration because of nose cone. :-) hhave fun

all good ideas. I do have access to all sorts of steel, a lathe, and a mill. I have 1.25 inch solid steel slugs. the largest I have made so far is 6 pounds. another good thing is a 10-12" 1/2-3/4 inch pipe nipple, wrapped in tape. I put one through a washing machine at 50 psi. all the way through.
