Oh. Gee, my bad.
In that case, get batteries that are either red or have like little flames on them. I bet they go even faster and straighter. Maybe you could paint the ones you already have that way... ooooh! paint em like a rocket and put a cone on the top - rockets are really fast and that is what NASA does.

Alright, you've got me. This is hard to say, as I try to keep it a secret; it is quite embarrassing. So, please. Be gentle.

I am suffering from satiritis. It can be contagious, but only to those who understand the symptoms. It has gotten me into trouble before and when I break out, it becomes steadily worse. I do hope none have been offended by this small feverish episode. I truly hope that others, like frankrede, can understand my true plight and help me through this fit. Really, humor is the best remedy for all ailments, and this is by no means one of those times. However, seriousness is almost always very counterproductive in calming the effects of the dreaded satiritis.

Shove a fluffy tail or shaped paper or cardboard tail on the end to keep the tail pointed backwards.

Making the front end heavier might also help. Longer barrels are always nice for improved accuracy. Also, depending what you shoot at, it might not matter if it flips through the air. I've used batteries a lot and it seems that at closer ranges (like 30-60 feet) they fly straight more than half the time (at least for me).

I just got found thes 3/4 inch batteries that ar ethe same diameter as AA. I made the front heavier by making a custom metal tip with my dremel.

You can rifle a .5 inch barrel as long as you can find a dowl rod that will let use use screws to rifle the barrel. I could tell that Willard was joking. This is in the right forum. It says ammo discussion when you look to the left.

I have serious doubts about the effectiveness of home rifled barrels...

For one thing making scratches in the barrel doesn't make things spin very well (if at all). A hard object like a battery won't even notice them.

Making raised spiral ridges however will make justabout anything spin but that needs serious machining.

Batteries are about as accurate as a blind walrus trying to hit an ant at half a mile with a musket.

If that hasn't made it clear - they're useless for accuracy. Find something else.

I did manage to rifle a few - ages back, but they took a huge amount of effort, and after one shot they were either impossible to find, or totally wrecked and therefore useless.

It's not worth the huge effort for just one shot.

...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

that keeps it's range strait but there is too much surface area to get the batterie into a spin, i sugest a nose cone, rounded not conned.

and for sure i sugest a rifled barrel since tail fins are most likely out becuase the projectile would leave at an ange and most force would go around the projectile.

dont use batteries! they are only good at short distances! use marbles! they are bloody cheap and sometimes they make a cool whistleing noise! and im pretty sure it would be easy as to mod your gun to suit marbles, just buy a new barrel its like aus$2 for a meter length of PVC!
