Oh! I get it, you want to throw smoke grenades in a paintball game. Lol when you said you wanted to use it for painball I thought you meant as a propellant for some stupid reason. My bad, sorry for getting on your case over nothing.

It's all good man. Yea there's no way I'm putting anything on fire in my gun. Besides, If I wanted to use it as a solid propellant, I wouldn't. I could just make some good flash powder for that, but that's against the rulesez. Yea I want smokescreen, last time I played I ended up having to dive over a bush and pull a tuck-and-roll to get to better cover, if I could chuck a small smokescreen, then I could get away easier.

You know that might just work. They do that with gunpowder to make it burn faster. Maybe if you added an oxidizer, somehow....

Are you sure this stuff is ok to breath? I have heard it is pretty nasty, maybe it isn't a good idea to inhale chemicals like that.

Potassium nitrate is the oxidizer demon.

 :P

I knew that.

Just thinking more oxidizer=faster burning, my bad. Maybe if you used a different oxidizer instead of potassium nitrate.

Besides, the stuff I foudn in that video link I posted burns crazy fast and produces huge amounts of smoke, I'm making that stuff.

By altering the ratio between KNO3 and sugar, you can achieve either faster burn time or more smoke.

I am guessing that the amount of smock will vary between mixtures? Surely it can't stay constant.

More Potassium Nitrate = Faster Burn Time = Less Smoke
More Sugar = Slower Burn Time = More Smoke

A 60g to 40g mix is the usual.

Correct, so a 50-50 mix would lessen the burning speed and increase the smoke content as well.

That's what I usually do, a 50-50 mix, or a 65-35 mix.

I made a 6" by 6" smoke bomb, literally couldn't see my entire neighborhood. used gasoline as a fuse.

Yea, but by making the stuff in the video, I can make it burn fast, _and_ make a lot of smoke.

EDIT: And yes, KNO3 is saltpeter

I knew that before. Its just very hard to get KNO3 in Aus since its an important part of gunpowder and a powerful oxidiser.
