Broken mower
Hey guys, Just wondering if you could help me out.
Recently my mower broke (yesterday) :/ and I cant get it to work again.
We have changed the spark plug and cleaned the air filter but thats about as far as our mechanical knowledge goes.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah were getting a spark, i got my dad to hold the spark plug while i pull the cord. He got zapped
Im not sure about the carburetor though, How would i tell if it was broken? And how would i fix it?

just take the carb of and remove the lid that is on the lower side of it. then you blow through all small holes and nosles with compressed air and that can solve the problem.

When we took the Air filter off the carburetter didn't look like it was clogged with anything.

Something weird like this happened with two of our mowers, except when they were running, they would run for about 2 seconds, then stop for about 2 seconds, then run for about 2 seconds, etc. When that happened with the first mower, we went out and bought a brand new one, but then around a week later, the same thing happened to the new mower. It's kind of weird.
It's hard to soar with eagles when you're working with turkeys.
I know this is pretty specific and probably a long shot, but a few weeks ago my mover wouldn't start, so I did all your usual maintenance which didn't help. I then realized that some of the smaller little levers and sh|t that control the throttle were covered in greasy black buildup from the smoke, that was so thick that it was stopping it getting to the choke position, so I just sprayed it with a high pressure washer and it was good as new.

is there any evidence of oil coming from the exhaust at all, on thing if it is a push mower see if the magneto around the top rotor make sure that the wires haven't come disconnected at all

i had something like this happen with a mower i had. i kept pulling and pulling and it wouldnt start. i cleaned the air filter, checked the carburettor, i even changed the oil. it still wouldnt start. it had worked perfectly until it simply died. i was working on it all day long and finally after 4 or 5 hours it dawned on me, there was no gas in it... i wasted that whole day trying to start a mower that was out of gas...
PS- yes, i made that up, im not that dumb.
one thing is there might have been dirt in the cylinder, which can cause it to get pretty scratched up, which leads to little or no compression. this IS a true story and is why my old weed eater wont start. its now trash. if/when you have completely given up and truly are thinking of buying a new one, take it apart and see if the cylinder/piston is scratched...

The new style 'Pulse Jets' are screwed rite to the gas tank, it could be plastic emmissions type (take it off throw it away buy new one for $25.00 or so).
If it's the older style, made from cast metal it will have a small square plate screwed to the left side, (get a rebuild kit $12.00 or so) take the carb and tank off the engine, carb off the tank, take side plate off, take out diaphram/spring/spring cup, squirt out with starting fluid, reassemble with all new parts, (you will have to re-adjust the air fuel mixture).
Flow Jet Carburators, these type carbs have bowls under them with one screw holding them on. If you have this style fill your gas tank up, GENTLY loosen it two full turns or untill fluid leaks, watch the fluid when it hits what it lands on, if it beeds up it's water, (more likely the cause of your problem), if it doesn't beed up it's gas and the passages in the carb need cleaned.
So, what kind of carb is it? How many HP is it? Get the numbers (model, type and code), they are stamped in the shrould above the spark plug.

Do you smell fuel coming out of the exhaust pipe after you have pulled it a few times?
