Hey
Firstly, torrenting is not illegal, because you can torrent some things legally.

4 Things make downloading fast
1. Your download speed
2. The persons upload speed
3. The speed of the line
4. How congested the line and servers are
Failure to plan is planning to fail.

The more data you allow other people to download from your pc then the more/faster you will be allowed to download from others.

Umm, it depends on what sort of client you use. I haven't used torrents in ages but when I used uTorrent, when you first install it and asks you for your connection speed, select the highest possible (100mbps). Even if that is not the speed of your connection, it will allow more users to connect to your computer thus allowing you do have more connections to other people.

Okay, I can't say much because it's against the rules, but NEVER torrent, they upload more of your computer then you download from them.
They suck down your bandwidth, just don't do it. Even limewire I wouldn't touch.

All I can say is get a rapidshare account(legal) and type projectw into google and click the first result.

rapidshare, you pay like $13AU and you get an account for a month, then you go onto that website projectw, and download as much as you want, most people give rapidshare links and they have everything, I mean everything. If projectw doesn't work search warezws in google or warezbb.

P.S For PCGUY's sake, keep this discussion as LEGAL as possible.

I said keep this legal. In other words, keep your illegal download comments to a minimum.
Btw 26minutes is my average, it's good considering i'm in NZ on a shitty NZ ISP.

Oh and talk to Pete Zaria about torrents. I don't care how fast you can download with a torrent, I would never do so, they're far too unreliable, can have viruses, get renamed things they're not like DVD Rip when its a cam, or a porn movie instead of what you wanted and they upload of your computer, take too long and waste bandwidth.

With forums like projectw.org and warez-bb(warez-bb just reached its 3,000,000 post) everything is organised, you can get anything, I mean anything(appz, movies, music etc) and its 100% real and reliable, and bloody quick if you have a RS account which cost next to nothing a month. I'm up to 162 'feature length flicks' on my computer and im outta space :P

There is nothing illegal with Bittorrent, nor is there anything illegal with things like Limewire. They typically get a bad name due to the fact that you CAN download illegal content through those services, and many people do.

Bittorrent can be fast or slow, you must first understand how it works. If a file is popular it will have many "seeds", meaning people that have it (or parts of it) on their computer and they are running bittorrent so they will share it with you. The more seeds, the faster the download can be.

If the file isn't as popular it won't have as many seeds, so downloading will be slower. Your connection can limit it, but typically the number of seeds is the most common thing to cause slow downloads.

Various firewalls can also prevent bittorrent from connecting to seeds correctly, so ensure your firewall is set to let through the ports that your bittorrent client uses.

The "servers" can't be busy causing slow downloads, since with bit torrent there are no centralized servers. If there was a server with all of this stuff on it somewhere, it would be raided by the various nations so fast it wouldn't be funny.

In most bittorrent clients, an upload to download ratio is kept for peers to keep sharing "fair". Meaning if you disable uploading, your ratio will go way off and you will barely be allowed to download anything. However if you let it upload files you are downloading, then your ratio gets better and you are allowed to download more, faster.

Bittorrent is designed to not totally jack your connection, hence why you select how fast your connection speed is. Whatever you select, it may allow bittorrent to use 25% of it. If you select a speed that is way higher than your actual speed, then yes you can download/upload more, but you won't be able to do anything else online since all of your bandwidth is going to bittorrent!

Yeah, like that's how companies like rapidshare are legal, they just say you're not allowed to upload illegal stuff, but everyone does and names the files 'backup' so RS can't do sh|t, even when you disable uploading on limewire you still have the problem of viruses and wrongly named files.

Actually I think most torrenting programs use hashes to ensure that you are downloading the correct file. This prevents other people from hosting a corrupt file or parts of a corrupt file to try and break the network. And you can also preview files some types of files before you finish downloading them.

Nevertheless... I dont trust them. Once I think I downloaded a infected version of uTorrent from their site and then my computer started acting as a spam server and my virus protection, firewall went crazy. This was even before I downloaded anything.
