New Cannon Game Plans- HELP NEEDED

Everyone has probably completely forgot and passed on the 2d cannon game I was going to make. Truth is I havent had time to work on it, and I could not find anyone that could help me with it. I gathered many cannons, and characters and only 1 map background.

So I have decided to completely change my plans. My New Idea Is to create a 3D FPS game. I own a special, expensize 3D FPS game creating program. But It is much more time consuming.I have made plently of games, and good ones to. It comes with standard models, Characters, and wepons, But as everyone knows a spud cannon game needs Cannons!!

The cannons are going to have to be created on a special 3d model program called Blender, Im sure some of you have used it or heard of it at least.

I am going to need a lot more Spudfiles members help then I did for the 2d game, In which I only had 2 people help get me a cannon picture.

Members experienced In 3D modleing are highly WANTED they will be using the 3D modeling program called Blender to make the objects

This is a list of help I need:

USERS OF BLENDER 3D MODELING ARE HIGHLY NEEDED
-3D modeling ( making 3d models such as cannons ) : This may require using program other than your average 3d programs. I will provide you with other specific 3d programs, special for FPS games, and you amy be required to learn a few simple new concepts. Some of these programs include Blender ,which some of you know how to use I believe. 3D modelers are only needed for cannons, ammo, models absolutly no skinning, or mapping, that is what I will be doing.

-3D anamation ( Making 3d animations such as muzzle flash ): This also may require using program other than your average animation programs. I will provide
you with other specific animation programs, special for FPS games.

-Sounds: This wil require owning any good, or high qulity sound recording equipment, recording cannon sounds, and editing them with any sound editing program.

-Anything else you can help with

The Temporary game website will be were all the game creators will be working together, I will also need small talk on the forum about game level/ map ideas. Maybe charcater ideas, or game story ideas.

I am going to create a temporary Freewebs site with a forum for the building process of the game in which the whole team can easily communicate, share ideas, recieve assignments and aquire the programs nessasary to do so. Any un ordinary speical 3d or animation programs will be supplyed by me.

The website is http://www.freewebs.com/spudfilesgameteam

I am serious about this game for the outcome will be much more different, resulting in a 3d First person shooter SpudCannon Game! Once the Potato cannon game is complete, tested, and packed it will be realeased on spudfiles with a link leading to the offical downlaod site.

Remember I can use any help I can get, and im not starting until I think I have all the people I need. I need a decent majority of spudfiles members participating in the creation of the game. Therers no name yet, no story to it yet, no charter ideas yet, no map ideas yet. Help is needed!

Post your email here and what you want to help with, or email me and tell me what you want to help with. You can start posting on the site whenever you want. the project sint starting until we have a good amount of people.

You're going to need a lot of people to make this happen.

I can model pretty much anything, but UV mapping, skinning and animation aren't my domain. I can use Lightwave to an extent, but I do most stuff in anim8or.
Milkshape could probably be used to convert to whatever format you need.

Can't help you with sound much, as I don't have the equipment.

What 3d engine are you using? Unreal? Quake? Doom3?
I'm guessing you're using something like gamespace for an editor?

I personally would love to help, but unfortunatly I don't know how to work blender (or any other 3d program) I am willing however to learn and I am a bundle of knowledge and ideas, so I can come up with new and interesting ideas.

I think it would be easier to mod an existing game to have spud cannons.
I think i could do that in Halo when having the models.

btw, there is one hell of a big typo on your site lol :P
"Welcome fellow spudfiles memebers!"

It would be even cooler if you could make a game that can be used to design cannons and then fire them (with the use of built-in GGDT calculations)

Oh another things:
You dont want to shoot living things i hope?
Would give a bad impress to spudcannons since they are NOT designed to kill.

That's why there are zombies :)

Surely it would be easier to use a pre-existing game and make a mod for it?

Most probably. If not, I think a class based game like Team Fortress 2 would work very nicely in regards to this type of game. That way a variety of cannons would be "showcased" and have different abilities. Also, on that note, would this be specifically catered to spud guns, or could it possibly contain other homemade devices like homemade flamethrowers (which have been shown here on spudfiles might I add.)?

Definitely a good idea.

Flamethrowers need a good partical system an a knowledge of how to set one up properly though. other than that, Coilguns, railguns, trebuchets(heavy artillery) and uhh... maybe IEDs ? :)

I nominate we move this topic over to the forum created by Cannon Creator. This may prove to be more convienient to working and brainstorming plus to get an idea of who would like to work on this project.

I don't know how many of you have, or have played Day of Defeat:Source, but it is a PERFECT game engine to use for this sort od MOD (if it doesn't get made into a game) as the Source engine incorparates RL physics into the game, such as the needed angle for rockets to hit objects and there are water models and water physics too, so maybe water projectiles could work too.

A nice idea, but you probably would get discoraged eventually. Like everyone said, you would need a production team, MONEY, time, and...other stuff. I agree, it would be easier to mod an existing game.

"Call of Duty 4: Potato Wars" anyone?

No, I am not using a nexizting game and modding it. I am using a game creation progrm, were youmake games from scratch, with simple entities such avilable.

The FPS creation software is called. FPS creator, now isnt that ironic?

Here is the website, I have already had plently of experience in using it, but not much in making 3d models.
