What would constitute a small amount?

A test tube/boiling tube full (of hydrogen only) makes a nice boom but it is still safe to hold as long as there is nothing covering the end. You could start with say a third of a water balloon full of hydrogen, put it in a strong open container and pour bb's on top and leave a hole at the bottom to hold a candle under using a pole for tests.

I didnt explain it very well at first but by a non lethal container i mean that you wouldn't use an old section of down pipe because it may not be able to withstand the combustion. You want all of the force to be directed upwards, and you dont want it to be so powerful that it will rip through your face, they are just used to scare people in an airsoft match, thats all.

Lol, good idea. I think by replacing the whistle with a horn you would get a much better effect. But then again you dont want to give someone a heart attack.

I actually thought about the horn after I posted. I was thinking more along the lines of a dual air horn, and maybe using something like that for next year's Halloween. And, to top it off, fill the horns up with flour to shoot out when the horn goes off.

I also thought of another triggering system (that I've actually been working on for paintball mines). Hook up a motion sensor (that can be found for security lights and stuff) to the electronics to activate it.

I bet that would scare the bejeebers out of somebody, especially in airsoft.

Did the original post refer to the Estes Hydrogen powered rocket launcher?

Or maybe this one (watch the guy walk in front of the launcher while someone else is preparing to fire it).
