Indeed, I stumbled upon an 18 mm (ID) barrel (about 0.7'') that was perfect for a bow.
The piece I had was too short, though, plus I needed it for a cannon. What I found next were the spikes from a large bar umbrella: eight 3 mm dia. steel rods, about three feet loong each. Can't wait to find the time to make my bow.

do you have any ideas hoe to cut a pvc pipe in half (so u end up with a channel for a cross bow) but it nebs to be a clean cut (a table saw?)

Yes, a table saw would defintly be your best choice for such a action. Below are a few tips...

1- If at all able to, change the saw blade to a blade with the most possible teeth.
2- If you are planning to cut in half, take the OD of the pipe, then divide by 2. After that minus a 1/16th from the number formed above. (Saw blades are generally 1/8th of inch wide)
3- Ive done stuff like this by hand, but defintly would suggest a guide, proably one that needs no further use after the project, seeing as you will end up chopping it.
4- If the pipe is very large it might require you to cut in two passes.

You don't need to make a tunnel for the arrow if you build the stock out of layers of plywood.
Give the middle layer less height and you have the tunnel.
