Spudfiles Census: Dec 2007/Jan 2008

The question of global location came up in the chat area yesterday, and I began to wonder, how is Spudfiles distributed across the globe?

I know we have the frappr map, but I can't get that to work, and many people don't want to use it because they don't want to be too specific about their location (and I don't feel comfortable putting a "marker" in the wrong place, so why should anyone else feel different?). Anyway, that's a mess of markers which doesn't tell me numbers or even if the user is still active. I look at it, and I know the proportions aren't right.

So, I've complied a poll that lets you be either specific just to your country, with all the countries I can think of that have members in. There's a 28 day limit on the poll so we just get a snapshot of the members active at this point in time. We can fire up another poll another time (like in the summer when more people will find time for spudding).

I tried to provide a lot of options to allow you to either be a bit vague, or just "over here somewhere" - but I wasn't allowed that many, so I had to trim it down heavily, so I've had to make some groupings I wasn't happy with.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

I see there are 6 votes already, which is faster than I was expecting.

Done. Looks like we have a lot of U.S. spudders still...

And the frappr map distribution looks correct. Despite what you may think, the "Deep South" has very few spudgunners in residence, (at least those who log onto these forums). I'm the only active forum member I know who lives in Louisiana.

Tsk. You forgot JSR's country.

Now he'll have to vote under "Some other place in Western Europe the poll wouldn't allow/Western Europe in general." :o

JSR doesn't have a country, he has an underground lair that spans underneath each of Weatern Europes epoxy suppliers.

The flag says it all.
America, the greatest gangster of all time. With 200 million odd foot soldiers at it's whim and call.
When you fill your car with refined oil remember that it has been paid for with blood and guts, some from your own countrymen, most not.

That's what I submitted :D though I suspect "Just somewhere that isn't the US, I'm hopelessly vague, and I'm not even sure myself!!" might have been a small jibe at yours truly
