Well for one, these people carry their weapons almost anywhere else anyway. I'm not talking about giving everyone a gun, I'm talking about giving the people who already have these licenses the right to carry on campus.

As for guards, not a chance would that help most likely. The shooting is most likely going to occur inside, amongst large groups of students. Once shooting starts, people are going to be running frantically. The better training you have with a rifle, the less likely you'll be to not take the shot.

Police sharpshooters will take down a gunman when they are absolutely positive they can get off the shot and take the criminal down, while not endangering civilians. I don't know any police sharpshooter who would be willing to take a shot in an environment like we're talking about, not a chance.

why are people saying that gunmen will simply find new targets, crazy gunmen almost always attack because the are crazy and hate their peers for no good reason. why would they attack a diffrent school that they are not familiar with.

I think first public places should stop banning guns and having laws against guns in cars and stuff like that, hey guys don't forget that supreme court case coming up on the 2nd amendment

Yes, I know he's an anti-gun candidate, but...

I disagree 100% with John McCain and the Republicans. The GOP has taken this country so far south I'm not sure we'll ever be the same.
I don't trust Hillary; she's taken millions of dollars from pharmaceutical and energy companies.
That leaves one candidate, and even if I don't agree with his gun control policy, he's the lesser of the evils by far. So yes, I'm voting for him. I don't think the Senate will allow any strict gun control bills to pass anytime soon anyway.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.
Why not Mike Huckabee? He is the only candidate I know of that hunts regularly and owns a concealed carry permit. Would you vote Huck over Obama if Huck actually won the GOP nomination?

I voted Huckabee in the primaries here.

I'm for it, I think that if people were allowed to bring guns on campus (with a permit) it would make me feel more secure, as long as the government made the test a bit harder, maybe even making a special permit just for bringing a concealed gun onto a college campus.

i am a supporter of carry and conceal. It would sure as hell make my time at college that extra bit safer. If you think about it, the crazy people that start these shootings would be determined enough to get them illegally. I just don't think you can stop those kinds of people from getting something as easy as a firearm. no law will stop it, so why try?

Exactly, they're getting their guns no matter what, why impair my ability to protect myself?

If you can buy one with a can of beans, so you can go shoot people up, do you care whether you've got a permit for concealed carry or not. So I'd make it harder to legally purchase a gun (but still a right).

What age would you allow concealed carry? If it is the same age or younger than legal drinking, then you have no way of knowing what that person will be like around alcohol. You might be a good law abiding boy at home, go to college and find booze and completely lose your head.

How would you police the permit system in a college? I've heard that more and more schools are installing metal detectors to pick up knives and guns. If you've got a bunch of licenced tooled up individuals it's going to be a logistical nightmare to allow them to pass.

Safe storage. College campuses are not known for their high security, people can wander in and out quite easily and rooms aren't really that secure. How would you provide gun owners with safe storage of their fireamrs when they are not on their person? What investment wuould you need to make and who would pay?
Wow I really dont know what to say. I'd love to sit here and insult you, but I've been getting in trouble by MrCrowley for being mean. Screw it.
You're an idiot. Do you really have any clue what it takes to get a concealed pistol license?? I do because I have one. I went down to my local sheriffs office (Benton County Sheriffs Office here in Kennewick, WA) filled out an application, just like I would do to buy a gun, and gave them $60 USD. They then gave me a piece of paper and I went over to the jail, which is the same building just a different door, and got finger printed. A week later my concealed pistol license came in the mail. That's it.

So you thinking that making it as hard to get a gun as it is a concealed pistol licesne is freaking retarded. The only difference between having one and not having one when I go to buy a gun is I have already gon through the FBI background check and my fingerprints are registered with the NCIC so I can pick up my pistol right then and there instead of having to wait 2 days.

The age thing, you're stupid because you have to be repeat have to be 21 to get your CPL. Period, no questions asked.

As far as metal detectors in college all you would have to do is show your CPL to the guard and go through plain and simple.

And last but not least safe storage, you wanna know where my safe storage is? Underneath my arm in my shoulder holster or in my hand. Thats all I have for now

Its not the gun that kills.

Think of it.

We SHOULDN'T have guns, but more education.

I can tell you exactly how much...

I've gone and done the maths, and your chance of dying in such a shooting in the next year is approximately 0.0001813% (I went and looked it up, and I found 41 deaths in 5 US college shootings* in the last 17 months - around 29 a year, ~16 million college students, mash that together...)
If you have a 5 year course that will shorten your overall life expectancy of 72-73 years by about 4 hours.

Compare that to a 0.014% chance of death in a car accident in the next year, or a 0.0064% of death to alcohol abuse, and a 0.00027% of death in a plane crash.
In any one college year you are 50% more likely to die in a plane crash than get shot by such a madman.

You're also more likely to die due to your trousers, so if you really have to concealed carry, I suggest that first you switch to wearing dresses, cancel flights, stop drinking, and develop a fear of cars - then start campaigning for a change in the law (Not that they'll take a tee-totaling cross-dressing, motorphobic who won't fly seriously... :D)

If you guys feel you need to cause such a ruckus over a 4 hour loss in your life expectancy, I suggest that if you stop engaging in the ruckus, you'll save far more than 4 hours by doing that.

*Including the incredibly large VA tech, but not including perpetrators.

Why should I be forced to give up my guns? I am a law abiding, except for the speeding  citizen, and I consider myself to be of good education. And technically speaking, your right its the bullet impacting the body and resultant wound that more often than not kills.

There is a greater chance of an accidental gunshot at a place where there isnt any alcohol involved... now attach alcohol and im willing to be the number of accidents will go up... what do you think is higher... the chance of someone dying in a school shooting or getting accidentally shot around an area of large quantities of alcohol(college).

Are you saying their isn't any alcohol in college? Are you saying there are no parties with alcohol in college... I've personally been to a bunch of them... and yes.

Dorm room parties, floor parties, off campus parties, I know if someone had a gun on them that perhaps maybe not themselves but someone else who is drunk could cause an accident.

No, what I am saying is the copious amounts of alcohol that you seem to believe spews everywhere in college, is kind of a misconception. Granted there are parties etc etc but thinking that its all a big party is kind of out there.
