has anyone tried to light the green gas when it comes out of the barrel? i was wondering if there is enough leaving the barrel behind the bb to ignite with an electrical spark so i can have a muzzle flash, just for show

this is BADDDDD for your airsoft guns..

over time it will wear down all the rubber parts in the gun, leading to eventual 100% failure.

it would be cool though..............

If you use hydrogen you will also gain performance :D :?

No seriously:
It might work somehow but to get your spark timing right will be very hard.
Also its not a safe thing to do.

@VH:
Read the title
I think hes using airsoft guns MADE to run on green gas

no, i understand they are made to run on green gas.

i was saying that the combusted material will ruin the gun. ive seen a 200 dollar SVI infinity Expert ruined by this awsomely cool phenomena.

It is cool though.......... lol.

I've lit the green gas as I shot it. It's not so much a flash than a burst of flame. The barrel doen't contain oxygen when it shoots so it can only ignite at the muzzle. So there's no hope for making a flash inless you want to add your own oxygen to the mix somehow. Not really worth it if you ask me.

If you ask me, i don't think its enough gas to fret about. That, and it would over time destroy you air soft gun.

Just search youtube. There are dozens of videos of people doing it on there.

You could always extend the 'barrel' a bit with a larger-than-barrel vented tube within another tube so that air could mix with the gas before igniting and then combust within the barrel extension to give a more flash-than-flame effect.

Could you send me a link? I can't find any.

the way you guys are talking about it, it seems like you think i'm gonna have ignition within the barrel, whereas my design would have the spark jumping across the muzzle where there should be a nice combination of gas and air, i just wanted to know how much gas came out the barrel

edit: just checked youtube, they're all using digital effects to add them in to a video, nothing to do with an actual flash

Here's another video:

What you're likely to do if you try this is wreck your seals, set your airsoft replica on fire, or set your curtains on fire.
