Ok, this thread is to show many of you why its not such a good idea to try to light a firecracker and wait until the last second to throw it so it goes off in the air. I tried doing it (had a few drinks) and ended up regretting it. And notice how my thumb is about twice the size of what it should be? Yeah......

This is why I will never do it again, and why you should never do it....

And just to let everyone know, it took me like 5 minutes more to type this then it should have because of the pain. I took probably 1200mg worth of pain relievers today (also not a good idea because i started seeing things). So please, for the love of god, don't do this.

mine was loose in my hand also. i was just about to release it when it went off. thing is, it was a larger firecracker. It was smaller than an M80 (because they're illegal) but a lot bigger than your average firecracker...not sure about what it was though. and my friends decided to wrap it in electrical tape so it made a louder, "BOOM"! (contributing to me not knowing what kind it was, with the electrical tape covering it).

anyway...not fun....
i bought lots of ointment for it lol

I agree, a regular firecracker blast doesn't leave a burn like that...I've had my share go off in my hand. My guess is that it spewed flame and sparks as some are want to do before it blasted and thus the burns.

You should seek some professional medical treatment for that burn...just ask CounterStriker. Looks like pretty severe second degree bordering on third degree there. Infection is your enemy here. Don't delay!!

Edit: OK I see you said later it was a bigger model...

You guys got some lame fire crackers man.

A friend of mine blew half of his finger off in the exact same way.Waiting untill it almost blew and then he threw them into the air. They stitched it back on.

The New Year's after that he was not allowed to have any fireworks, so he just stood by and watched.A very large rocket fell out of the dark sky and hit him on the top of the head. He went out cold muhahaha

I laughed my ass off. I remember the rocked had a cardboard space shuttle on it.

The irony.
Anyway, glad you're okay and stay safe!

Burns like this aren't to be toyed around with BB, especially with other trauma to his thumb. He may even have a small fracture in his thumb from the shock and that may be from where his pain is coming. He should get an Xray and burn treatment ASAP.

Well the largest firecracker legally sold in the US is the M-100 Silver Salute. It is the equivalent of 1/4 stick of dynamite. However, it's not quite powerful enough to do this. This one was done by an old fashion (and no longer legal) M-80.
