True story, I once met a guy, who had a fifteen year prison sentence.
He was a white guy, American born in Missouri who converted to Islam and married some Bosnian woman and has four children.
He was a reporter for a muslim newspaper.
He lived in Virginia and got together with guys from his mosque to go canoeing and stuff. They also played paintballs a lot which could also be considered training I guess.
He owned an AK type semi-auto rifle because he liked it. The FBI tapped his phone for like two years.
One story he covered for the paper was on some stupid group noone even cares about, who want India out of some stupid country.
The article he wrote about a leader of that group was published in 1999. In like 2001 that group was put on a terrorist list.
They still couldn't bust him for anything so they got a 20 year old to go to him and ask for information about his source. The young guy told him he wanted to meet the source of his story, so he gave him his sources address/ info.
Soon after that he was coming home from picking up his daughter from ballet and a bunch of agents grabbed him and now he's in jail for fifteen years and has a sentence of "material support for terrorists"!!!
No I am not muslim, I am an American who believes in freedom of the press, freedom of speech, the right to assemble, freedom of religion, the right to keep and bear arms etc. all the other B.S. they say are our rights.
My Point: When someone comes around asking for information about something (it may seem rational even or sound obviously totally stupid)
BE CAREFUL, They could be a terrorist. Maybe they want to harm people or animals. Worst of all, they could work for the government.
When it comes to chemicals/explosive stuff, if someone's not smart enough to do something they may not be smart enough to use it.

One large paragraph of an interesting story...mind splitting it up a bit it makes it easier on the eye to read...
Unfortunately thats kind of what the world has come to... and people think its all OK because its in the name of Security...
I don't know all the details and I am sure you don't either but a fifteen year sentence is pretty hefty for an innocent man....

That's is pretty funny Mr Crowley.
It is a true story, No I don't Know all the details.
No this guy is not someone I am crusading for or even talk to.
I meant this as more of an example of what could happen to anyone.
And so people will think.
There are probably hundreds or thousands of similar stories similar.
I just used this example cause I actually met the guy and I believe him.

They should really have dug further before making any actions. An 8 month trial is now on for those -censored words for young minds- who wanted to detonate suicide bombs mid flight on trans-atlantic flights. I hope they get put away for atleast 200 years each.

Honestly, some countries dont even have space for human rights.
I guess its a risk factor you'll have to take into when living somewhere

Jared nailed it about the details bit. A fifteen year sentence is pretty hefty, but this is the Federal system. Obviously, there is more to this than we know.

I think those are the details. I heard the same story (pretty sure it's the same guy) from my history teacher the other day. Unfortunately, the court doesn't always work perfectly but it's probably a lot better than some other countries...
Our teacher also told us about this american guy that shot another guy just because he was wearing a turban. Apparently turban=terrorist these days. The guy wearing the turban was Sikh (I think). The american dude was kind of hurting his own cause I'd say as you can see below.

That was from here. The next time you see a Sikh, greet him or her and know that the turban you see is the same turban and stood up against oppression against those identified as lower castes in India, tyranny in WWI, the Nazi empire in WWII.

I've heard that terrorists eat children...
stop using the word 'terrorist' it's so naive
during the second world war german forces were using it very often when refering to resistance fighters...

Hubb017 said it -- there's more to this than we know, and it'll pretty much always be that way. The media is renown for omitting certain details about EVERYTHING they report about, and that will never change. All we can do is speculate, and we are in no position to make any real judgement about what actions were taken.
Well, sometimes, it isn't the media's fault. A lot of times, an agency will leave out details (usually for investigative purposes) when doing a press release, which means, the media can only print what they know. They, then, will take that and print out what they think the public wants to hear.

No, you were misinformed, they don’t eat them, they give them an AK-47 and tell ‘em to go kill American infidels or strap bombs to ‘em.POLAND_SPUD wrote:I've heard that terrorists eat children...

And what, pray tell, would you have us call them, “anti-Americans” or “the inventors of the school bus bomb”?
What are you, a terrorist sympathizer?
