Spectacular, but it should have 5 strings.

If you email somewhere that sells it they will most likely cut it to the exact size you want, because they price it per cubic foot, I would also recommend that you either go and look before you buy or get them to check the board for defects, so that the whole board can be used. 2 inches would probably be wide enough, but if you go for 2.5 or 3 then you know you definitely will still have enough width left after you plane it and clean it up.

I presume it will be for heal 2? I have to say its going to look damn awesome with a walnut stock.

Thanks kobl.

That was the plan, a stock for HEAL 2, currently labouring under the name of project 3vo - Because HEAL itself is a sequel to Behemoth, this will make it #3 in the sequence, and it's an evolution of what came before, so 3vo (pronounced Three-voh) just seemed a logical project name. The name may stick permanently, it may not - I do have other ideas of what to finally call it.

As you say, a lot of places seem to be talking in cubic feet, so I was planning on working out dimensions as best I can first, in cheap wood, before I move on to the expensive stuff to keep my costs as favourable as I can.

I quite like the name 3vo, but i dunno what your other choices are so they may be better.

Its easier for them to price it in cubic feet than anything else because of the differences in each piece. I would either get some cheap softwood for the practice piece, or visit some joinery's near you and see if they have any offcuts you could have that are big enough, as its just a practice it wouldn't really matter if it had defects in it that might make it unusable for the joinery's.

Well, tempting though it is, I won't clutter up your thread by discussing it here. Suffice to say most of the options are mythological in some form or the other.
Quite a few of my design names seem to go that way.

Mythological things always seem to have the best names.

I've been working on some more guitar designs that I plan to make, gonna post them up later, see what people think of them. They're quite extreme/standout-ish, the sort of things you only make one of.

Anyone care to give me an opinion on this design i have just come up with, it will be a six string guitar this time, the dark strip right down the middle and the finger board is ebony with a slight red tinge which I will achieve with finishes, im not certain what wood the body will be yet but it will have an amboyna burl veneer on it which is the wood used in the photoshopped picture. I think I might try to get all the metal parts anodized either red of black depending on the position of the particular piece.

If i get positive feedback on this design, I will be starting the build probably at the end of this month.

I'll be honest, it's a bit spiky for my tastes, and it doesn't look like it would be very comfortable to hold or play.

However, perhaps, if you could change where you're pointing these particularly pointy and impale-y bits...

...and toned back some of the really sharp angles, it could actually be a pretty good design.

Looking at it again the piece you circled is very spikey. Ive tones it down a bit, two slightly different ways.

personally think the second one is slightly better looking.

Ill post some more designs in a while, when ive done them properly

Ooh, I'm liking the first of those two designs a lot...

Wouldn't mind one myself, if I could actually play guitar.

I think the first works because its not so busy, but it still has the quite radical shape to it.

Lol I cant really play much, its just easier to listen to music than actually play it :D

Gonna go back to photoshop and see what it looks like with the amboyna on the headstock as well.

You may well be right - it's radical, but quite simple.

I can't play at all - but I'm deeply envious of those people that can. I have tried to learn, but I know that to get to the level I'd like to be at (if I had the choice), it would take years.

Several of my friends are really good guitarists, and I just watch them playing and think, damn i wish i could do that, maybe ill get a bit better if i start trying to play the ones I make before I sell them.

Ok heres the final version, im very happy with it now.

Heres another design if anyone wants to give me an opinion on it. Its sort of a hybrid of a Rhoads flying V, the Gibson explorer, and imo the best looking guitar ever, the Ibanez Iceman.
