The engines drive compressors and pumps, okay.
But what are those compressors and pumps for then? :D

If these engines are red lining at 720RPM's, that tells me they are diesel. If they are transferring from oil drilling rigs, that tells me it's 4 to 5 million a day. Divide that by 55 and you get the barrel amount, duhhhhhhh! You have a interesting job.

Actually, they run off natural gas. It sure is a lot easier to get natural gas than diesel on a rig. Same for the newer turbine engines, its just burns so clean. And it is pretty overwhelming to think about how much money is in all these engines.

yeah, natural gas is pretty good for that.

where i live the D.O.T has a "fleet" of vehicles that runs on natrual gas. They have 0 emissions..... problem is that there was ALOT of money put into checking for leaks, becuase if there is a leak lots of people would most likely be in serious danger......

think if you made a MASSIVE frame out of solid steel rods and put that engine on. some tracks and you have yourself the worlds most impressive crawler :)

i bet that engine could have turned the world if it had the chance to try.

also. that would be one hell of a death if you got trapped in one of those cylinders and got the engine running on all the other cylinders at 1rpm :D

speaking of crawlers anyone know what they use as an engine for that ugly thing that moves the space shuttle? (off topic ignore if deemed neccicary)

it runs on diesel i know, but its not 1 engine, there is 1 or 2 for each set of tracks

I've seen it before, It only goes 1 mph to prevent damage or something.
IMO They might be "Milkin' it" LOL

About this post pics, I was thinking one of those engines would be a great backdrop for a mechanics' calendar. Maybe with a girl in bikini standing inside the cylinder. 'Course I often think of stuff like that. :P 8)
