I was bored so I took apart an old CD player and got to the motor. I want to know if there is anything cool I can make powered by a CD player motor. I googled it and I saw something about a Tattoo gun but what would I want with one of those? I have know desire to get a tattoo, especially not with a gun I made. I am just really bored around my house and want something to do

i have a tiny tattoo on my ankle, just some needle and ink

anyways, i bet the flat motor is too week to do too much, just attach something and watch it spin all day, or, put some sort of spring on the bottom, let a cd spin, then use the sping to eject it, also the word helicopter comes to mind

I like the idea of a helicopter, I have a prop I could use, but not sure how to go about making the helicopter

You would have a problem with a helicopter, it would need a tail rotor to keep it from spinning. You could build something like this fun toy...

That's a link to a google image search of the item. There fun but limited.

dangle a fish line in your room, then 2 bare wires for the current, make a heli with contacts for the 2 wires, then add some comtroll pannel or something...

you can just spin a prop then release it, then catch it... thats fun too i think, spudgun flying target practice?

hey, I even have a thing on my ceiling in my room to hang fishline from because of a former airplane thing that went around in circles, I might have to try that

The motor from a CD player (assuming you mean a portable musing player type) doesn't spin fast enough for most of the above uses, even running it at a voltage (9 v) above specifications.

What I'd do with it personaly:
Glue a nice strong magnet to it, and put it in a box: magnetic stirrer for your drinks. (although you'll need a small magnet for the part that rotates in the fluid) A pot (variable resistor) will be able to vary the RPMs from very low, to fairly fast.
