Decide on what hobby you have more dedication to, then you decide.

Scuba lessons for me! I personally have always wanted to but living in New Mexico doesn't help much. Just don't get the bends!

Take the scuba lessons then take underwater welding. You'll make a insane amount of money. That is if you stay single and control yourself. Check out offshorediver.com and Phoenix international.

Diving is alot of fun. I took scuba diving lessons a few years ago and it was great fun. More fun than you will get out of a mini lathe.

Do the scuba lessons.

My only thoughts are that the lathe will last you a lifetime...the scuba lessons while fun, more fleeting.

If you think you'll be doing a lot more diving in the near future, maybe the lessons will be worthwhile. However, when that next precision spud project comes up this winter, you'll be very glad that lathe is sitting in your shop....

Ultimately, find a way to do both!

You should definitely take scuba lessons. The lathe might be useful but, hey, life is too short! and you won't always be able to take scuba lessons, while you can always buy a lathe.

read starman's post he expalined it quite well....

if you are more interested in diving (and willing to spend money on it) take diving lessons but if you are more into building spudguns buy a lathe

well here it is 2 minutes to 12 and I thank you guys for the input.

I will be buying the lathe.

As fun as it sounds the diving thing is just not going to get used that much since the water up here in wa is cold all the time.. the sound never gets above 50 deg. I thought it was cold on the wave runner...and I was just getting splashed! And like I need another half ^ss hobby. That will just get dropped in a few months; like so many others.

So that answers that.. and I can alway take them later.

I will post picture when I get it running.

Thanks guys

I know you've already decided (and right in my opinion) but noone mentioned that a Lathe is useless without money for tools and materials to use with it, the Scuba will be fun for the time being on its own.

With the pollution now days, I'd be scared of having/growing sores or something from being in the water.
