Well Ive been looking on myspace for a while and I cant seem to find any ones that I like. I was thinking since most spudders listen to the same music.
Some of the bands that I like are; Here Among Wolves, Children of Bodom, Slipknot, Metallica, Job for a Cowboy, As I Lay Dying. etc.

Maybe based on that you can point out some bands?

System of a Down's awesome, but they're on Hiastus, or hiatus, or haitus, or whatever the fork it is.
My Chemical Romance is also good, but I would consider them too soft to be metal.
Avenged Sevenfold is also pretty good.
My friend highly recomends Goat Whore :?
Reel Big Fish is a good ska/rock band.

I listen to all these rock/metal bands, and I like them. However, I'm still looking into bands myself, and I also listen to techno, Jazz, classic, etc. So excuse my tastes.
